OK so has anyone fitted a tuning chip (rather than an ECU remap) that they are satisfied with.
Thanks
Mike

On reflection
I ought have also included the opposite questiom.
Has anyone fitted a chip that was not satisfactory?

ECU Remaps are not so available in Australia for the C6.
Any experiences out there?
Thanks
Mike

The issue with 'chipping' a C6 is getting access to fit it from what I understand, as the connector is supposedly down the back of the engine......

Anyway
my main gripes are :

1/ vibration through the steering wheel and drivers seat, worst at idle

2/ turbolag

(both worse than family pug 407 with same drive train)

local dealer "nothing wrong on the computer mate"

I am thinking to let the local "superchip" agent pull the ECU apart and stay up all night on the phone or net to UK messing about. this will cost 800 quid.

is this a good idea?

I think there is something else wrong.
any ideas

cheers
Mike

I was considering getting mine chipped/remapped but before I did I my mind turned to the little issue of the 2.7 pumping out about 208bhp & 325lb/ft & the 3.0 providing 240bhp & about mmmm 325lb/ft ish. Hmmm. Why?

I think the answer lies in the torque capacity of the 'box which is rates at a max of 324.5lb/ft.

Consequently I didn't get it chipped as I feared meltdown in the gearbox department which I suspect would not be a cheap fix!

I think a coupe of people on the forum have has theirs chipped though but not seen any recent feedback from them.

If I could find someone trustworthy to do mine, I would definitely go for a remap - from what I read, it gives you 240 BHP with low or no major change in the max torque department, but just shifting the curve so that it's available earlier...

The net benefits of this seem to be that you need to work the car less to achieve the same, so possibly longer engine life and lower fuel consumption (at least while zipping around the city).

That's just me,
Sam

I've just handed mine over for its 12,000-mile service and MoT. 'My man' said that another of his C6 customers has just had his chipped, and the performance is very impressive.

Hi all, if chipping the 2.7, ask for the torque curve for a similar situation - this is if you want to respect the autobox torque limit.

Attached is a torque curve for a modified 2.7 fitted in a Jaguar 2.7 S type.

I'm going to get my 2.7 C5 exclusive chipped soon. Quantum tuning in Bristol have already had a look and the ECU has to be removed, a 10 minute job and reprogrammed on the bench. The Citroen ECU can't be remapped via the port as it's locked. Price £ 235 with a 30 warranty if you don't like the remap and a lifetime warranty if the remap ever needs replaced. They offer three types of remap, Eco (for economy only); all out power or a combo of the two which gives about a 10% improvement in MPG and a smoother power cure.

Hi Dave, see my preceeding post. Can they provide a graph for the predicted torque (and power)?

You can see similar power & torque gains on the superchips site. Still worried about its effect on the longevity of the gearbox.

That's my sole reservation.

More power - great!

better economy - great!

Gearbox needing replacement as over stressed - not great.

I have decided to leave mine as it is. I am more than happy with the car and don't want to tamper with it. Also if you tamper with it there's all sorts of insurance problems. As I understand things if you do re chip the insurance must be told as it's not as it left the factory.

I'll ask Charlie if he can provide a graph and if so I'll post it.
