Well I have just gone ahead and bought a 'lifetime' Gilt warranty for the C6 from - Click Here -

OK got a copy from the actual Insurance co of the T&C - it's the same one dealers sell but at a discount.

You can download it here: - Click Here -

Wear and Tear are not covered, nor are modifications from standard and the car must be serviced in line with Manufacturers specifications. Air con and Sat Nav are payable at a reduced percentage as well

Main Exclusions are:

• All bodywork and trim, seat belts, glass, sunroof panels, fuel tank, wheels and tyres, hinges, brake facings, seized calipers

• The renewal of any clutch component due to incorrect adjustment, misuse or general wear and tear

• The clearing of fuel lines, filters, carburettors and pumps

• Air bags

• HT Leads, spark plugs, filters, wiper blades, lights and bulbs, belts, wiring looms, glow plugs

• Exhaust manifold, exhaust system, brackets, mountings and hoses, water ingress, cables

• Worn or leaking seals and cylinders

• Battery

Once a car goes above a certain mileage then payouts are reduced

19. In the event of a claim the Insurer reserves the right to call for a contribution from the Insured for Betterment should the repaired vehicle ultimately be in a better condition or have a better value than it enjoyed immediately prior to
the occurrence of the claim.

The following matrix will apply where Betterment is applied. The % stated reflects the reduction to be applied to parts and labour (Inc. VAT).

All mileages are from date first registered.

70,000-80,000 miles 10% 80,000-90,000 miles 15%
90,001-100,000 miles 20% 100,001-110,000 miles 25%
110,001-120,000 miles 30% 120,001-130,000 miles 40%
130,001-140,000 miles 50% 140,001-150,000 miles 60%
Over 150,001 miles 70%

The maximum payment for diagnostics is £65.00 inclusive of VAT. - (Most Citroen Dealers charge more)

The above is a Precis of the exclusions, but you need to look at the fine print if your interested - Click Here -

Claims are limited to £1,000 per component, per claim, to a maximum of the car's purchase price over the life of the policy (in my case £14,400) and Catalytic Converters and the C6 Suspension are covered.

Cost, a one off payment of £389

Hi Dave,

I've followed your lead and gone for the same lifetime warranty. A couple of points that might interest anyone else considering this:

1. Unsurprisingly it's not transferable if you sell the car.

2. They currently have a special offer where the claim limit per component is extended to £2000 instead of £1000.

The documents took a while to arrive and are from 'Autogaurd' and others online appear to be selling the same one (basically acting as agents)

I was concerned as it read as a 12 month renewable warranty so had to double check and get it confirmed

Many thanks for the email. I am pleased to confirm you have the lifetime premium gilt policy, which is valid for the whole time you own the vehicle. It is renewed every year free of charge by the underwriter – it states ‘renewable’ on the policy as the underwriters will contact you annually to confirm that you still own the car

OK mine runs out on Aug. 5th. Citroen are posting me a booklet about a new insurance scheme I 'may be interested in' so I'll let you all see it if it's of any use.

Dave - with a 60,000 mile C6 do you still recommend this policy, and do you think I could purchase it prior to my current warranty expiring?

Also, and maybe I'm being stupid here, do you have to front the cash and claim reimbursement or do they deal directly with the garage?

Cheers

No you don't pay upfront. You contact them for authorisation of the repairs

OK. i have been quoted just over £400 for the top lifetime cover and the max payment on items up to £2000.

HOWEVER:

I wanted to make sure what they mean by 'Mechanical Breakdown'. The policy states that:

'internal failure which is hereby defined
as the actual and sudden mechanical failure or
breakdown of an item listed under the ‘What is
Covered’ section which results in the sudden
stoppage of its normal functions and which
necessitates repair or replacement to resume
those functions.'

I'm wondering if that only covers problems that literally happen rendering the car immobile all of a sudden as opposed to something breaking and failing but leaving the car ultimately mobile. I'm just trying to find out some things because it seems so cheap. Has anyone dealt with them yet? Too good to be true?

Cheers

Ped, in my view, ask the insurers (not the brokers!) to say for what they would provide cover, eg. failure of ball joints, suspension maladies etc.

Then post the response on here, so we all know....

Well I paid over a week ago and haven't had the paperwork yet; I emailed and was told 3 days ago they would 'chase it up'.

Looks like my fears are being confirmed. Despite saying in the FAQ section of their website that wheel bearings are 'normally' covered, they just told Citroen Slough that they wouldn't pay. I'm trying to call them but can't get through; I keep getting the receptionist who says they have my details and will call me back. This has been the case for the last two hours.

Looks like I should have kept the £400 odd and used that to pay for the bearing..
