Rooster, I think Phil is referring to the thermostat coolant tank which is indeed "under the plastic trim". Regards G |

Rooster, I think Phil is referring to the thermostat coolant tank which is indeed "under the plastic trim". Most probable cause as above, but a corroded coolant pipe with a pin hole in the direction of the undertray may also be worth checking etc Maybe a new thread for this as gone off original topic. |

Just a quick update: It was indeed the thermostat coolant tank, which has now been replaced. Car seems to be running fine then all of a sudden it will judder slightly, as if its misfiring. Pulls away without a problem under hard acceleration and also when revved hard in neutral. I have no warning lights and the temperatures are all as they should be. Perhaps the next step is a Lexia, but I just wanted to know if this was fault that anyone else has come across? |

Sounds like an EGR valve failing. My 2.7 did this at it about 1750rpm. | ||

Thanks Shaun, I will look into that. Would they fail without any warning lights? |

My car's symptoms started off with a minor hesitation on light acceleration at 1750rpm, which became more pronounced over time, say 2000 miles, no warning lights displayed, although Lexia should faults with airflow sensors. Eventually the Engine Management Light came on and the hesitation was quite bad. This was the first faulty EGR valve that B.L.Autos experienced and subsequently changed, hence the inconclusive initial diagnosis. Now they seem to changed one or two C6 EGR valves every week. |

I have seen EGRs online for approx £175. I too had no warning lights - until this evening. Engine management light now on and message 'engine fault - repair needed' Here we go again! |

Approx 5 hours of workshop time to change one EGR valve. Citroen Service shows them priced at £266 each (inc VAT). So, you're looking at approx £500 or more in the UK at an independent repairer, obviously depends on the labour rate you pay. I know one forum member paid a main dealer £1000 plus VAT for an EGR valve, they changed for diagnostic time in addition to the time for fitting the part. |

I thought the policy was to not charge for the diagnostic if rectification work was carried out? That's one dealer to avoid Shaun. |

I believe it's up to each dealer to decide if they charge for diagnostic time. It seems more and more common practise throughout the motor industry nowadays, possibly as cars are more complex. |
