I've just been out in some horrendous rain and the wipers decided to crash into each other. They were on for about half an hour and working fine before the clash. I've noticed for a while that the passenger side wiper is a bit "lazy" and has lots of slack when moved by hand. As ever, it's been something that I've been meaning to look at so now is the time. The passenger side clashed with the driver's side and dented it slightly so I'll need new wipers but they were due anyway. I've noticed that the passenger side has been slapping at each end of its travel. Looking at a post from markp from 2014 it seems quite easy to get to but what am I looking for? Is this simply a nut that has come undone over time, causing the sloppiness, or something more serious?

Unfortunately it's absolutely teaming down right now and looks set to be on all day so maybe I can get a look tomorrow or the day after. According to markp's post, the C6 shares the same wiper motor as the Peugeot 407 coupe so hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult if that's what's needed.

the arms are fixed to the motor assembly by a nut.

If there's slack you'll need to investigate if it's caused by wear in the arm or the spindle. My bet is the spindle and that'll need a replacement motor unit to fix.

Guess who has one if you need it

Thought you might! That makes sense, assuming this is the original motor then it has lasted 195,000 miles so probably has had its day. Whenever it's dry enough, I'll take a look then I'm sure I'll be in touch!

UPDATE: The wiper came off easily so I re-attached the nut and used a socket to test it and there's a lot of play so it looks like the motor needs replaced.

I've also been reading similar posts on the forum and it seems that I will need to re-program the replacement motor using Lexia - is that right? I'm keeping the wiper off at the moment so that the car is useable until I get it replaced.
