 any idea how to dismantle the CD changer out of the car to fix it?

Remove the boot floor lining
Remove the 12V accessory socket — prise out the metal socket from the plastic surround first
Remove the r/h wheel arch liner

The rest is obvious...

The same for replacing the battery, except the other side!
