Hi friends, I have a head gasket failure in my C6 2.7HDI. Could you please tell me how can I check which head gasket is broken? Is it possible to remove rear head without removing engine? Thanks in advance. |

Hi Hertz, sorry you have had no replies so far. A Leak Down Test can be performed to check the state of each cylinder (piston rings, valves, head gasket)and so identify which cylinder bank head gasket is giving the problem. It is NOT a quick and simple test, because you need to rotate the engine so that for each test, the piston is Top Dead Centre on compression. You will also need to remove all of the glowplugs which is a possible tricky operation so read up on this before starting. Some good threads on this forum. Make sure you warm up the engine to normal operating temperature before starting the glowplug removals. regards |
