Hello everyone. Having handed back my leased Jaguar XJ as part of the sale of my company I have been looking for something a bit left field in the large car sector and a C6 has caught my attention.

I am not averse to high running costs and depreciation as I have owned a Maserati 3200 since 2005 which is eye wateringly expensive in terms of driving and maintaining. My major concerns with a C6 are finding a suitable maintainer and spares availability. Can most Citroen dealers maintain C6's and are spares readily available ? Also are there any particular issues I should be aware of when viewing a potential purchase (I have 3 in mind).

Finally there is one other minor problem which is that my wife hates the C6, but then again she also hates my 3200 with a passion so I should know how to handle that issue.

Thanks in advance for any advice or guidance.

I use BLAutos in Welwyn Garden City. Amazing guys, know the car inside out, always a coffee and a selection of SM's DS's and other old citroens to admire

Most can service a C6 but Citroen only appointed a limited number to be C6 specialists with trained staff and tooling to carry out some repairs.

Hi Chris, depreciation will be minimal because the purchase cost will be very low (except 3.0 HDi). Parts costs are very reasonable (think Ford rather than Ferrari) and I have been constantly amazed as to stock of parts carried in the UK (usually delivered next day to local dealer) or from France (within 2-3 days).

Reading the forums, there have only been a few stock shortages, this was for front shocks. A lot of the wearing running parts are common with Peugeot 407s (and later model C5s) so there are lots of aftermarket alternative or OE direct stuff for drop links, ball joints this sort of stuff.

There seems to be a pretty good aftermarket capability to repair some of the electronics (eg dashboards and Head Units occasionally go bad). If you have a good local garage with which you wish to continue, there is no reason why they could not maintain a C6 with investment in just a few tools and equipment plus some basic know how.

Regards
G
