I have sourced an electric-chair switch - from the (very pleasant) people breaking that blue C6 in Godstone - and wonder if anyone here has experience of replacing these things.

How does the panel containing the switch and door-handle detach from the door? I've looked at the door-stripping guide in the Technical Documents, but am uncertain if the steps shown there are strictly sequential. Can the small panel be removed in isolation?

Can I, with my ten thumbs, do it or is it really a job for a specialist? Once inside, there seems to be a single plug-in connector, or is it more complicated than that? Incidentally, it is the switch that's at fault, because Boy2 found to his delight that he had control over the front seat when Boy1 was sitting there. Crushed knees, much swearing.

I probably will not need help or advice with the replacement of the missing cigar-lighter, as I feel confident of managing that job solo!

Nothing as drastic as taking the door card off.

Lift the lid on the small 'ash tray' in the switch module on the door, then lift it out.

Once the 'ash tray' is out you will see below where it sat, a 'torx' bolt head.

Remove that and lift the switch unit from the trailing end (rear) and it should simply lift out so you can get at the connector.

C6 part replacement clear, simple and straightforward? Good grief.

Many thanks for that. The switch should be here midweek.
