OK guys I'm about to book my service.

The Citroen specialist tiny garage in Cookham want £265 and I'm sure the guy would do a great job, but they aren't allowed to do any work under warranty (hopefully nothing will be needed)

Citroen in High Wycombe quoted £185 which is a very good price (fully inclusive) and I assume they could work with my Citroen UK warranty if needs be.

Who should I go with? My heart says the little specialist (who were excellent during my MOT) but my head says go with the cheaper option at the main dealer - would the stamp in the book from them be seen as preferable, too?

Finally, any things I should get checked specifically, things to raise with them or to note at the service? I'm not even sure if 60K is a full or interim service as I don't have the book on me at the moment

Cheers

If it's under warranty and the Main Dealer is cheaper then it's a no brainer, as when they hook the car up to 'Lexia' it will automatically look for any software updates, outstanding recalls or Info Rapids

Dave, the garage at Cookham has Lexia. I go there as well.

You can buy 'Lexia' yourself to use (eBay is full of it) but without a dealer registration number, it won't auto pull the information from Citroen's server I'm afraid.

Ped, Think ahead!! I had the same conversation with myself. in the end I rationalised that going to the dealer was the better option.

1. It was cheaper.

2. It needed an MOT anyway.

3. If they found anything wrrong, it was up to them to sort it out under the warranty (They found a leaking suspension leg, cost would have been around the £500 mark).

4. There could be no arguements in the future about the wrong stamp in the book.

I have to agree with Dave, it's a no brainer.

Cheers guys. It's booked in for Monday. Still seems very cheap to me! They say they are not C6 specialists but presume they still have the Lexia stuff if it's used on other models.

I have no issues with the car, though I have noticed a slight rhythmic squeak from the engine at idle... I'm going to ask them to look into it. Seems to be coming from the drivers side, about every half second. Very quiet but it's there...

Service all done, £184.99, very reasonable.

They found a bit of play in the front drivers side ball joint (even though Slough recently fitted new ones) and a minor power steering leak, so it's going to Slough on Saturday to be sorted (under warranty).

In the meantime they are lending me a black DS3, which will be great fun.

Very happy with the price of the service though!

You Jammy soandso I got the coice of a C3 or a Saxo, some people have all the luck

I'd say it was well worth taking it there, given the work being done, somebody else could easily of let that go through and said nothing, That's precisly why I took mine for the service and MOT back to a main dealer.

Yes, thanks for the advice! I'll let you know what the DS3 is like, a friend has always fancied one so he's quite jealous!

Great, so after a morning of phoning them up to confirm it was OK to drop off my car, by the time they could get back to me the servicing dept. was closed, demanded to see someone so they managed to get someone else to do the hire car paperwork, but guess what, they gave me a C3 not a DS3. Pretty annoyed, as my parents are interested in buying one, but as I told the man in the showroom they'll probably be less interested now that they can't see one.

I hope they sort my car on Monday, because I can predict that I'll call them Monday afternoon and they won;t have even seen that my car is there and booked in. We'll see.

Don't worry. Once you have their loan car they will be under pressure to get it back asap

OK so they called today. The ball joint will be under parts warranty as it was only recently fitted. The power steering they are cleaning up and looking at tomorrow. The little squeak the engine makes they think is either the power steering pump or possibly an alternator belt (£~160 fitted, won;t be under warranty) but I'm hoping it isn't.

I'll see what they say tomorrow, but I hope it's all OK and under warranty otherwise I'm going to be footing a bill. I still feel these things would have been picked up if the vehicle pre delivery check was completed properly. I've had the car 9 months and done less than 9,000 miles.
