Poor radio reception |

My C6, with the first version of radio, has always had a bit of interference on the radio reception. In the last few months it has became unusable. It might pick up something in the higher frequencies, but low down, it just gets interference, if it can get anything at all. Am I looking at a radio repair or a replacement antenna box? I think there are two boxes that the antenna goes through before it reaches the head unit. Any experience on this matter, please? N.B. On the C5, a similar issue is known to be the aerial base, which houses the booster. I presume the C6 does similar stuff to the signal, but through a separate box. N.B. With the indicator on, I can hear the hissing get much better every time the light comes on! So interference or a lack of suppression is my guess, but how to regain this, I don't know. |

To follow up on this I have finally worked out that it is the lights that are causing the interference! I switched off the DRLs in the on-screen menu and the interference went. It comes back when the DRLs, sidelights, headlights or brake lights are on! Very strange. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this might be or how I might work out how to fix it. My first thought is this but it’s a bit of a guess: There a series of earth points on the body which could have a poor corroded connection with age? - Click Here - |

However, I will properly take the LED DRL bulbs out and see if that helps. |

I know some LED require resistors fitting, so it's a place to start if you have the original incandescent bulbs to test the theory. |

Things have got better with replacement of the main headlight bulb with proper Osram ones and removal of the LED DRL bulbs. Still a bit of interference but I can actualy hear the stations now. I have been suggested ferrite clips for the power lines to the headlight and LEDs, which I will investigate. Trainman, I have just sent you a PM about the bulbs, thank you. |
