So sometimes I have a strange 'clonk' when taking up the drive. Doesn't do it all the time but typically when you've stopped at traffic lights or a junction then pull away. I've replaced both front drop links but I didn't do the anti roll bar bushes.
Any thoughts chums?

Lower suspension arm rear bush is most likely worn.

In the light of my unfortunate experience earlier this year, be sure to check the security of the front lower swivel joint retaining bolts -- particularly if there is any hint of steering wander or tramlining.

The only bush I've had to replace fairly regularly is the one in the bottom of the hub carrier. Citroen say you have to buy the assembly for ££££££, but it is available aftermarket. Again, typically, if it's this one, will be accompnaied by steering wander.

Hello Biggles1957,

It is possibly what Hattershaun points out. Another test for the rear lower suspension bushing is to allow the car to creep along in idle and apply and release the footbrake sharply. If you get the clunking sound it's most likely the bushes are worn.

Best regards,

Phil C.

All sorted yesterday by Wolsey House Motors. Lower bushes (not the wishbone ones) were shot.

Hello Biggles1957,

Thank for the feedback. The cars are tough on those bushes!

Best regards,

Phil C.
