Hi everyone,

Sorry to come back on this but it's really taken the shine off my C6 purchase.

Long story short, the local Citroen garage has had the car for over 5 weeks. They had installed a new control unit which works up to a point, but now the driver's display will not light up (although the Heads Up still works).

They brought the car back and the front sensors now operate on approach to an object and then, some 1-2 metres from it the parking screen is replaced by the normal computer screen. So parking is blind from that point. The parking screen nor sensors reappear.

I took the car back and also reported the Driver's display no longer works. They said they hadn't noticed.

Now they say the errant front parking display is completely normal for the car. Rather than argue there and then, I thought I'd seek advice, as it seems to be a load of baloney.

So, 2 questions really ...

Firstly, are they right about the front parking system ... is it unusual and different from other marques, as described above?

Secondly, any thought on why the driver's display no longer lights up? The central computer screen is fine. The garage asked if the unit had ever been replaced and there is nothing in the car history about that, plus it reads the correct mileage.

Many thanks in advance for all replies .... as you can guess, all this has taken all the shine off my new acquisition.

First of all, look for another garage!

The parking sensors normally work perfectly, indicating (via colors from green to yellow to red) distances from around 100 cm (green) to round 40 cm (red).

The display failure is a common issue and there are companies/specialists who can repair it in no time. Search this forum...

You need a garage specialized in C6, most importantly...

Update - took out the dash display (quite straightforward) and it's on its way to ECU AUTO in Strasbourg for repair. They say 7-10 days.

Whilst sitting in the car and trying to familiarise myself with the central controls, I saw that the parking system and automatic wipers had been deactivated.

Is this something I can reset myself or does it have to be done via the diagnostic port? I only have a cheap OBD reader but that really only does the engine.

Many thanks,

Stuart

Have you got a manual?

If so, you'll find this switch to activate/deactivate park distance control:

Thanks Fraunie,

Yes, I have the owner's handbook. The trouble is, the switch is permanently lit (with the ignition on), showing the system is deactivated, but no amount of pushing will cause it to go off.

Any further thoughts, please? I wondered if the garage had turned it off using their diagnostic machine.

Thanks,

Stuart

Further update.

Had the dash unit repaired at Strasbourg EU tech (sorry, papers still in the car) and everything seems to work O.K. The handbrake light which didn't light when applied, now does.

More importantly, I was now able to switch off the "turn off parking" button and ..... the sensors are now working perfectly!

Clearly, problems in the dash unit were preventing some features such as the parking system and handbrake light, from working.

Thanks again for everyone's help on this.
