How urgent is your need? I wIll be changing a radiator on a C6 and you're welcome to the bleed screw from the old radiator. The only problem is that I'm not in a position to change the radiator until some modifications to my garage are finished which means about 3-4 weeks.

If you can't wait for Phil's offer, try a breakers yard or a radiator repair shop.

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a radiator bleed plug too.

No luck in the breakers, it seems it's an unusual rad?

Anyone got an old rad with one available or know the manufacturer of the rad?

All the best

Hi Frank, do you mind me asking if the old screw is broken? or lost? or just wont seal.

For an early 2.7HDi, OEM for the radiators was Nissens and you will find their part number somewhere on this forum (where I posted on this some time ago). Same part used in some C5s. Here's the forum reference - Click Here -

I've only used the bleed screw once and it did not seem very secure when I screwed it back in. I ended up using 3 nylon zip ties to hold it in place: one to hold the screw down and the other two just making sure that zip tie doesn't slip off.

Regards
G

PS, if it was me, I'd probably buy a new Nissens radiator and then just install the bleed screw (maybe install the entire new radiator next time the front end was apart). Check with Dave321 that the screws on the original and replacement Nissens radiator are identical

Thanks Gordon,

Ive had the bleed screw in and out a fair bit recently and noticed it has lost one of its "wings". See pic.

It is still sealing but it doesn't take much imagination to see it coming out in this condition

Agreed, looks bad and will likely fail.

A new bleed screw costs £134 see here - Click Here -

and as a bonus, you get a free radiator.

regards
G

Cheap at twice the price

I got a new one this morning from East End Radiators for free.

Also they quoted a new radiator with the correct Nissens part No. at £93

Except that the replacement plug is the right type but one size too big

so I'm still looking for a bleed screw...

Cisco,

I'm sure I kept one from the old radiator referred to in my previous post. Let me have a look and get back!

Best regards,

Hi Phil,

Many thanks, I think I have sourced one from Robert at BL Autos.

Apparently he has had a few disintegrate on him as well so hang on to your spare just in case.

Best regards,

Frank
