I took the car back to my tyre-fitters at 11am, and ... ... there was no puncture, but there was a crack on the inside rim of the wheel itself. When I put on an Arnie voice and told the lads "I'll be back", they glanced at each other. They knew that sourcing a wheel for a rare and discontinued model would be challenging. Back home, I checked eBay and that Lithuanian guy (I bought a few bits from him, and somebody else here bought a door) who's breaking a C6 in Godstone had at least one that seemed to be in good shape, for a mere 80 notes. What's the retail price, I wonder, and is the delivery time measured in weeks or months? A swift exchange of texts and a 120-mile round-trip (on the spare wheel so at 50-ish mph) later, and I'm booked in for the tyre to be refitted at 4pm. When I phoned them, I could hear the "how the HELL did he manage that?" in the grease-monkey's voice. |
