Hello everyone.
I have the warning message that my particle filter is clogging.
And my car lose power even when I step on the accelerator to the floor. A few second later it rev to over 2000rpm. But the speed did not increase. Is this what happen when the particle filter clog up? Or is it something else that cause this?
Thanks

If it's saying that the filter is 'at risk of blocking' you need to drive at 50+ mph for 20 minutes to get the message to clear.

You may need to do a 'forced' regeneration if it does not clear it/it happens again

Mine was caused by a faulty connector on a turbo

acceleration etc - if the fuel filter is clogged, it behaves just like that ...

particulate filter message - separate issue would be my guess, as C6Dave implies ...

Thanks for the help. I'll change the fuel filter and drive it for 20mins and hope that it'll be back to normal again.

after we changed ours, the recommendation was to fill-up at least once with premium fuel (Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate, Total ... )

I've change the fuel filter. The car drive better. But it still lack power. The particle filter is ok now. But the car feel very different. It can't seem to increase speed like it used to.
Some how the filter has lots of sand in it. Maybe that's why it clogged up the filter.
Sorry my car is diesel. There are only one choice in Australia. They don't have different type of diesel like petrol does.

Hi Mark, where is the turbo connector? Maybe my car has that problem too. When i accelerate I can hear loud windy sound. And is it normal to have small amount of oil dripping from the air duct at the connection point with the radiator?

Cactus,

The loud windy sound suggests a leak on the boost side of the air intake. Oil in the air duct is not unusual but to see it leaking at a connection point suggests that's where the air leak is. Check that connection to see is it loose or damaged.

Regards,

Phil C.
