Hi All

Going to garage on Tuesday for a rain leak & bits, if I can tell them what this is might save time...

She did it on the way home from picking her up, so I know it's not my new tyres.

When I go around a sharp corner or roundabout, relatively fast, the steering wheel pulses/ pulls, it feels very wrong - any ideas?

Put a new set of tyres on, didn't pull before, but then did heavily to the left, tried to get it laser tracked but ATS had to do it manually as the computer doesn't have a C6 file. Still pulls a little bit though, anyone know which big chain could do it, or local to me in Surrey. Also had uneven wear on the previous set, could it be something wrong with the car rather than the tyres?

Cheers very much - Justin 2005 Petrol

Intermittent heavy steering is likely caused by lack of LDS. Not tracking straight can also be caused by FRIP joint play and/or lower suspension arm bushing shot. (both from own experience)

Mmmmm, interesting on the LDS front, we think I might have had a leak from the main reservoir, but it was difficult to tell, so we were monitoring, I'll let them know to have another look.

Just put the car in the low position and remove the reservoir cap and see if the fluid is low.

"Just put the car in the low position and remove the reservoir cap"

No slacken or remove cap first before lowering suspension.

Steering pulling etc, check codes first as the steering angle sensor etc may need a reset!

I had endless problems with mine pulling to the left. I had it back at the main dealer at Slough several times and they swore blind all geometry, bearings, ball-joints, track rod arms were perfect, but it still pulled left.

They sent me away telling me it is just the camber of roads in the UK, the car is bound to move towards the kerb. Yes, perhaps, but it still pulled to the left when on the Continent.

I brought it back to them yet again and they checked everything again. Kept it in for days while they swapped wheels from other C6s, swapped wheels around nothing would change it.

I eventually sold the car, still pulling to the left.

Years later one of my brother's friends who is a mechanic asked if I ever solved it because they had a similar problem C6 in their workshop and eventually solved it with new spheres.

Wow really interesting all those years later you found it to be spheres. I still talk to the previous owner who had her 6 years, so I will ask her. But I will deffo talk to my garage Tuesday about changing them. Last time they said they're really tricky to get, where do we get them from chaps??

Very interesting responses this morning, although not good!!

Just spoke to Phil at Pleiades, apparently they've only ever recharged C6 spehres, nevcr replaced them and they don't sell them or have any supplier for them. I mentioned Cit themselves, he said yes they would do it, but just the spheres themselves are about £800 without the fit charge. He did point out that they are supposed to last longer than any sphere before, hence the price, the life of the car, or about 10 years, which mine unfortunately is. He said GSF aren't interested, so it is very difficult. I am prepared to go to Cit official, I will call for a price, but it would be nice to know how much it can be done for privately.

Mine's got to be done, so any ideas appreciated, my Surrey specialists, Wimuns, have done it once3, so hope they can get them again.

OK, so set of 7 from Cit is £800, £1400 fully fitted with new LDS.

Anyone want to comment on these??

Big saving, but don't want to do it if they're not good!!

Have you had the drive shafts checked already? Could be a universal joint playing up.

Don't fit Suplex or Monroe unless its just for a quick diagnostic changeout. They wont last very long, have a short life before they go flat.

There is heaps of info on this site, do a little research to find out the differing experience of various posters.

Personally, I would remove the 3 front spheres and get the pressures checked or recharged (Pleiades) as required.
