Hi
Bought what I thought was a nice C6 2,7 with 56,000 miles 2 weeks ago and all seemed fine until 2 days ago when I showed a friend the various suspension heights
All worked until I left the car in its low position over night, the following morning the suspension will not move and trying to drive around the block I get a suspension fault symbol in the display.
I've ordered via Ebay a Lexia set of leads and discs, but never used such items before and wondered if any of forum members can assist
1.POSSIBLE CAUSE
2. ANY GUIDES TO USING THE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPEMENT
3.ANY RECOMMENDATIONS IN north WALES OR CHESHIRE FOR A GOOD CITROEN SPECIALIST JUST IN CASE
Many thanks

Why leave the car in the 'low position' overnight?

Have you given the car time to lift the suspension back up, it's not instant and can take a few minutes to start to rise.

be patient when you start the car back up. I have left my car in the mid-high position overnight before but from lowest position it definitely takes a while to come up. press the up button once and wait for the message on the display to show you are at normal height before proceeding.

If it's low on hydraulic fluid (have you checked the level) it will take a while to build pressure (is the system showing signs of any leaks)

Kind regards

Hi
Didn't think leaving the car in low was an issue
Check oil level and took 250ml approx to get level to the bottom of the inner vented grill in the bottle.
Ran the car for 20 mins but no movement and same error message

Hi JT,

As you probably know the suspension pump is electric. Can you hear any "whizzing sound" when you unlock the car as it tries to adjust its' level?

If not then it may be that a Maxi fuse (40amp I think) has gone. Do a search on here to find fuse location as it is not immediately accessible.

Enjoy your C6, hard work but worth it

Hi Guys
OK so have found the 40 amp fuse blown, replaced and started the car and low and behold the suspension came up however, within a few seconds got some puffs of smoke from under the reservoir, so stopped the engine and removed the fuse again
1. looks like the pumps had it- where to buy or can we get a reconditioned one?
2. How big is the job
3. what's the procedure ?
Thanks

You probably only need the pump motor but it may be repairable. Several threads on it including: - Click Here - and - Click Here -

The pump motor from a C5 will fit if yours is beyond repair.

JT,

The threads that Dave has pointed out are good background reading and in your situation if you are mechanically adept I would perhaps strip and clean the pump electrical motor then run it with a new 40 amp fuse.

However, If you are not familiar with the car I might try a 50/60 amp fuse to possibly get you bye for a week or two while you research/source a new pump motor. I believe the complete pump and motor for C6 assy is around £1k.

Good luck with it. Frank

Hi Guys
The issue turned out to be a burnt out motor, had a real struggle to find one, spoke to a few firms who said no issues can repair and then nothing, so in the end I found a breakers with a secondhand one and fitted it no issues
As I have no Lexia and suspension was in the high position, it was quite a messy job with fluid loss
Anyway got if fitted and fired up, got the fluid put back in and ran the car and put the suspension up and down a few times, along with lock to lock on the steering
My questions are
Is there anything I should do as took the car round the block and all seems fine ?
I would now like to change all the spheres to ensure cars as good riding as it should be
1. best source for spheres?
2. Any one know any Citroen specialists in Wales, see Keith Davies in Chester and that's not too far, are they any good ?
3. Anything else you should advise I do suspension wise
Thanks as ever

Hi JT,
I hate to say this, but yes, there is a lot more to do if you want to make sure the suspension works the way it is supposed to do.
First of all, the main reason why these pumps fail is that they get covered in LDS liquid, when either an overfilled tank spills its liquid or the clip on the return hose came loose. So, if your new pump was covered in LDS and you didn't clean it thoroughly before topping up, you will have to take off the tank again, clean the pump, including the electrical connectors, and put the tank back in place. That is, if you don't want to buy yet another pump in a couple of weeks or months...

Regrettably, to get the work on the suspension done properly, you definitely need the Diagbox diagnostic tool.
Without it you will end up doing more damage to the system than you can possibly repair. So therefore my advice is: Get a Diagbox and make sure you know how to use is, and then get the new pump properly cleaned, installed, bleeding and topping up the system correctly. Check the technical section of this forum for the correct procedures, it is all there.
Once that is done, get an alignment done and have the ride height adjusted. In that order.
Forget about new spheres, in most cases there is no need to change them anyway.

Regards, Robert

Thanks Robert
The motor and tank were fully cleaned as they got reinstalled the mucky bit was the initial pressure as we removed the old unit.
I am struggling to find any Citroen people even remotely close to were I live (North Wales)
I just bought a Diagbox from ebay and installed it but every time i'm trying to enter the cars details into it, it seems to not communicate with the car ?
I don't know if the equipment is good or not as the discs took ages to install
So all in all a struggle
