guy's is there any differance between the two engines above as ive just been to the garage to see my very sick baby and they have told me the part that is needed is on back order as they dont make too many c6 parts so the car is in for at least another week if not more i just wondered if the engines are the same maybe its just part numbers are not the same |

As far as I'm aware, they only used the 3.0 V6 HDi in the C5 so it's a different engine I'm afraid, same on the Peugeot 607

Guardian, engines used in the C6 were always shared with other PSA contemporary product (whether Citroen or Peugeot). ie not exclusive to the C6. There is also a possibility of obtaining a Jaguar or Landrover part. By the way, what is the engine part on back order (description and reference number) I thought you had a leak on the gearbox seal not an engine problem? The C5 was available with the 2.7 V6 Hdi which was replaced by the 3.0 at the same time as in the C6. I remember considering the engine when I bought my C5 but bought the 2 litre Hdi in the end. In the C5 the V6 was just under 225g CO2 which put it in a lower tax band than the C6 with the same engine.

Guardian, if it is a gearbox seal (on AM6) there is a Aisin parts specialist (South East Coast) who should be able to help you. I posted a long time ago with contact details. Regards G |

Whoops, photos? Are you still covered by warranty being a 59 plate? Is this all transmission problems? Is the power steering pipe issue unrelated to the transmission problems? regards G |

yes it is thank god i think we are looking at main seal engine / counter drive gear assembly to the gearbox but the power steering thing is only minor that is only new clips being put on cos the crimped ones thatis on at the moment are loose |

I have a 3rd party warranty, but as nothing has actually 'failed' wondered if they would be covered, so decided to run the car until one lets go, then there is no argument on 'definition' |
