Air conditioning is not conditioning the air

 The fan is working great, but the air is warm - and warmer on the driver's side.

I understand that the issue causing this can be fixed without having to get the entire dashboard out. That would be extremely preferable.

I'm based in the North East... could anyone recommend a decent specialist nearby who would be able to fix the issue?

 I haven't... Would low pressure explain the temperature difference between driver and passenger sides?

 sounds like you may have more than one fault!

Get a re-gas at any Halfords service centre for about £70. If it fails the vacuum test they'll not charge you but at least you'll know there's something to go after.
The heat difference is probably a heater flap problem (do a search on here for info)

Where in the North East are you? Not that I know of anywhere to go anymore!

 I had weak aircon and left-right temp difference in incoming air in my C6. My garage found that it was not a flap issue but the aircon just needed re-gassing.

 It's going for a regas tomorrow. At £42 at ATS it felt like it was worth a punt. I'm gladdened by the news that this has solved a similar issue for someone else!
