Hi Anyone have had a symptoms like I have: the rack seems to be loose and "clonks" when I pump steering from side to side. I have changed all (4) steering joints from both side and also both lower legs so no play there. What parts I should try to tighten? |

Hello Joopa, I experienced this with a member's car and I thought it was the right hand side inner track rod end had worn as this had happened to one of our cars. However, with the inner track rod fitted the play and 'clonk' was still in the rack. It was planned to change the rack. However it was sorted by adjusting a lock nut to take up the play. I didn't do the repair so I'm not sure where this is on the rack, but I believe there has been no problem since. The adjustment is probably at the pinion. Best regards, Phi C. |
