Guys -as i say does anybody know anything about this C6 - Click Here - It has been for sale for well over 12 months and im just wondering why . I rang the garage today and he said its not everybodys type of car but it is mechanically fine - sure what else was he going to say .Ideally Im looking for a blue one with the cream/beige interior . This car doesn't look too bad - in fact its not bad at all but i am worried . As im living in Ireland if i come over it is to to buy it - but if i come over and its a lemon i have the problem of trying to book a flight back home etc - its just all hassle . Could anybody shed some light on this car please ? |

The things is, you don't have C6s for sale sitting around in any old car yard a block from you, so you gotta prepare to travel (especially for a good one I guess). If it's been for sale over a year, I'd say, indicates that it's overpriced or something wrong with it. The best you can do is what you just did, asking if anyone knows about it, then make sure you get all record of service or any other repair done. There are a number of common issues that manifest at certain years or mileage (and some other random ones) so you can decide for yourself if it is worthwhile taking a plunge, given what repairs/maintenance done so far. And you'll still have to travel to make up your mind anyway. Not sure if you've driven one, but it helps if you can sample a couple closer to you, if any of your fellow C6 owning countrymen will let you. I bought mine 1000km away, flew down and had a look and had it transported (I had to fly out on another trip shortly afterward so couldn't risk a drive back) |

Don't know the car, however..... Looking at the photos it is an early car with RT3 not RT4 stereo. It needs the wheels refurbishing and the drivers seat looks like it is a bit saggy on the outside edge. It is a lovely colour combination but is not low mileage. Has it had a thermostat housing and cam belt change? When did it last get front suspension bushes? I'd suggest that the brakes will need some work - being idle for a year is likely to cause the rears to stick. The tyres look a bit worn. The engine photo shows that the fasteners for the front plastic panel are not all there and the two that are are scruffy or not correct. It feels over priced for the age and mileage. Fully documented history from a good specialist would redress that but it looks like it needs some work. Don't know if you know about this site but - Click Here - is worth a look to see what has been done on the MOTs. |

Tiger, I'm sure there's a Blue/ Cream one for sale in Northern Ireland, much better miles than this as well, yes they want more money, but they have just dropped & I'm sure you could go on them even harder, would be much easier for you. Where are you, I'm in Ireland too. My garage just around the corner from me, collects cars from the UK all the time, around E450, which I think is very reasonable; I'm sure he'd drop to you, you'd just have to be happy to buy unseen. The thing is Tiger, until you've owned her for a year or so you just won't know if she's any good or not. You could buy a very well looked after car, then a major suspension pipe bursts, happened to me, but this one could go on for years trouble free - Who Knows!!!! ![]() Best - Justin |

Tiger, I've had a look at the pictures and I believe the Telematics unit is probably RT3 EV, which is the same as RT4. It was first registered the day before mine and mine has the RT3 EV. The mileage is a little high for the price, I bought mine last October for £700 more but 50,000 fewer miles; however, as it was a private sale it didn't come with any warranty. On the plus side, it doesn't have the Lounge Pack fitted. Most people would agree that that's a gimmick too far. Good luck with your search, Pete. |

Hello Tiger, The Northern Ireland car looks great but you'd be crucified with the road tax. As regards your dilemma on viewing, for the last two vehicles I bought in the UK, I flew over and back to view first, taking advantage of cheap flight deals. Having decided to buy, I was able to plan the collection and return without pressure. Best regards, Phil C. |

Tiger wrote ... Also could ye explain the Advantage of the different stereo ? Whats RT3, RT4 and RT3 EV .... Hi Tiger, The RT3 was fitted to the early C6s and used individual CDs for the SatNav maps. It uses the CD slot for the discs so you can't navigate and listen to a CD at the same time. To get around this problem, there is a 6 CD changer fitted - in the boot! The navigation discs cover single countries or regions so you need to change discs when you cross a border. If I recall, there are about 13 discs for Europe. The RT3 EV is like a bridge to the RT4. They are essentially the same unit and the big improvement over the RT3 is the addition of a 30gb hard drive, 20gb of which is for the mapping and 10gb for the 'Jukebox'. The hard drive can be loaded with maps for the whole of Europe, for seamless navigation, and the Jukebox can be loaded with music in MP3 form. Another feature of the RT3 EV/RT4 is the capability to install a homemade USB cable into the vacant CD changer socket in the back of the unit so you can play music from a memory stick. Late model C6s were equipped with the RT5 unit which added bluetooth to the list. I think that about covers it, but I'm sure if it's incorrect, someone will tell me. Pete. |

Yes I don't think you'll get a better answer than Pete's there! Also sorry, I was thinking of a different car, there's only one in NI at the moment (I think) and it's the black/ cream one you've seen ![]() IF I buy another C6, I'd keep it registered in the UK for tax & insurance, could you do that? It would mean a yearly trip back to the UK or NI for an MOT, but it wouldn't be forever ![]() |

Hi Guys I am looking at this specific car. it has got a long MOT list but no service history apart from the last service in 2017. I get the idea it was possibly bought cheaply at auction. A friend of mine took it for a drive, he took me through it via facetime. interior is extremely dirty, a shame they cant even attempt to clean it. If there is supposed to be a plate underneath the engine, it is missing.... The airconditioner is also not working, my guess is AC pump or condensor. It needs TLC but passed it 's most recent 2018 MOT atleast.... the plastic cover above the radiator is damaged, I wonder if it is part of the complete bumper or can be bought separately. This car is definitely for someone willing to spend a bit, given they come down with the price |
