My understanding is that 'chipping' only gets any real gains from Turbo Diesel engines, something in the region of +35 bhp and + 70lbs of torque for the 2.7 hdi.

Beware of people claiming similar gains for the V6 Petrol as I have only seen +12bhp and +14 lbs of torque based on the 3.0 engine used in a Peugeot 407/607 based on a standard 211 bhp.

The C6 3.0 is already rated at 215 bhp so your not going to gain very much on a 3.0 Petrol.

I've seen those plug-in boxes for the diesels. They should work but I am reluctant to try them to be honest.

Also you don't want to overload the crankshaft or the the gearbox

I’m not so sure that the 3.0i is susceptible to the ‘crankshaft anorexia’ that the diesels are, Norman, but I wholeheartedly agree about the autobox!

The 3.0HDi provides 330lb/ft of torque; the AM6 ‘box is reportedly only good at handling a throughput of 350lb/ft, max. I’d not wish to stress it any further, that’s for sure...

Apparently putting it into sports mode seems to stress the engine and away goes the crankshaft, there are reports on here if you do a search.

Interesting. Thanks, Norman. I’m not au fait with the foibles of the 3.0i motor. Obviously... :-/
