Sorry if this has been asked before, I did search on VED and 'car tax' but didn't find anything. I'm fond of my 2006 2.2 manual C6 but have occasionally been tempted by a 2.7... until I look at the UK car tax of £500+ a year. Remind me please someone, what is the cut-off date for cheaper tax on 2.7s, is it only 2006 cars or do some 2007 cars fall into the cheaper tax bracket?

April 2007. You sure yours is 2006, didn't think the 2.2 was offered then? |

Cars registered before 23rd March 2006 have the cheaper VED for 230g/km CO2 of the 2.7HDi. There's a silver 2.7HDi Exclusive for sale at the moment with cheaper tax. £305 vs £520p.a. Have a look at the .gov.uk website - Click Here - |

Hi Bargi, yes 22nd Dec 2006 is registration date (perhaps pre-release of 2007 option?)

My 2.2 is build date 2006 (November I think) and registered 7th January 2007. I wouldn't be surprised if most RHD 2.2 manuals are 2006 build. I have thought about a 2.7 but I like the economy of the 2.2 (fuel and VED) and I'll run it until it drops and then think about what to replace it with. |

Agree Dan... great engine with loads of torque at low revs, mine has had a 'smart box' put in at some point which may also improve performance
