Dropping immediately after switching engine off? Normal.

Is it normal that the car drops at the front, immediately upon switching the engine off? This is before I get out the car, so it isn't correcting it's height. I thought that there would be a reserve of pressure provided by an accumulator sphere like in the XM and BX's I've had. The C6, I understand much less!

Can anyone confirm if this is standard behaviour or not, please?

James,

Depends on how far it drops. Is it an inch or two or fully flat?

Best regards,

Phil C.

Not sure, will try to investigate further somehow. It's hard to tell from in the car, and if I get out, surely that will influence the test as the height corrector will compensate for me getting out. I can definitely feel it and see it when I turn off the engine.

Mine does this too.

My previous CX's, XM, C5, BX's, DS and GSA didn't.

Phew! Good to know. Thanks everyone.

Touch wood, after my initial mega-spend on the car everything is working and I am hammering up & down the M11 every day in luxury without problem. So far, a good, reliable car that I love!

Mine drops a few inches when I turn the ignition off. And then when I get out and close the car it rises back up again. And when I come back to the car and open it, it drops a few inches again. Been doing that since I bought it. I presume its to help us get in/out of the car!

My C5 (facelift) Hydractive II / III (?) would sit at a traffic light and to a little dance at the front end, from time to time! I'd be happily minding my own business when, suddenly, it would drop -- and I mean drop, not lower, an inch (25.4mm) -- for a few seconds; then, without any prompting, up it would pop again...
