Hi everyone

Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this.

I am currently looking for a c6 exclusive 2.7. Looking for a low owner / well maintained car. Mileage with less than 80000 ideally. My budget is £4000-6000.

I'd much rather buy from an enthusiast so thought a post here may help.

Again apologies if this is in the wrong section.

Thanks!

I have no problem with this, it's good to see somebody proactively looking.

Do you have your heart set on a particular paint/interior colour combination or is condition/history more important.

Just a quick question on the Exclusive bit of your search, is this because you need/want the rear TGV seats.

The reason I ask this is because there are fully loaded Lignage models (like mine) which only differ from the Exclusive in that they don't have TGV rear seats, nor electric steering adjustment. So if you could live with have to adjust the steering column manually, and don't want/need the rear TGV seats, then that will broaden your list of good condition cars to purchase.

A gmerry says, a full spec Lignage is pretty similar to an Exclusive. Dash looks a bit odd if it doesn't have the Sat Nav option.

Also, plenty of Exclusives around without TGV seats and electric steering column adjustment.

Given the scarcity, look for condition/history and consider any good car you find. I wanted a green one with Alezan interior - never found one!

I wouldn't be too scared off by high mileage, provided the price is adjusted according and the history is good. A long list of owners is not a good sign though.

An exclusive is not a guarantee of electric steering wheel adjustment or TGV seats either. The electric steering wheel adjustment only started from a certain RPO?

Best regards,

Are there any features that an Exclusive will always have, compared to a full spec Lignage? That might help the potential purchaser narrow down his wishlist.

I think mine has Full Leather with 4 heated seats, Memory Electric front seats, Full Satnav, JBL stereo, Electrically actuated rear spoiler: compared to a base Lignage spec.

Of course there is no badge on the back if that's your thing.

Mechanically I think the 2.7Diesels are all identical???
Maybe condition and maintenance are more important than badge. For example has the owner(s) kept up the engine oil changes, is there a documented transmission fluid change, has the thermostat housing been replaced, bodywork condition, are the TPMS sensors present and working, etc

No badge on any of them to my recollection.

I think all 2.7 had the electric spoiler, the active damping and the pop-up bonnet.

2.2 didn't get any of these.
'Base' spec models were stripped back further - no HUD and may be a few other things. That said, almost all (>99%) cars in UK are Exclusive or Lignage.

Easy way to tell the difference between an Exclusive and a full-spec Lignage is the former has the 'Mokuntu' inserts and door bins, the latter has piano black.

Well, you have certainly picked a good time to be looking -- a certain well known internet auction site is (relatively) awash with them and there is a steady stream (again, relatively) around BCA.
As a fairly recent new owner myself and having checked out several before buying, I noticed a couple of things. First, anything below 100k miles it seems that faults and problems are almost random; if you browse the forum, you will see for example some people have replaced wheel bearings several times; others have had no problem. Suspension component issues; again -- some people loads of issues; others not and so on.
Second, with a ludicrous long gap between oil changes in theory, many cars with correct service records will in fact (in my opinion)have been woefully under maintained, especially if there has been much urban driving. I think in theory the gearbox is a leave alone for life job; when I got mine, I drained it and the fluid was like treacle.
You really need to look at each one on its merits and preferably get a good test drive and see if everything functions. I think within your budget you will do better looking to spend around £4k and keep a float to tackle what will inevitably come along.
Worth persevering though -- they are a lovely car. Good hunting.

Mike.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Ideally I'd like an exclusive. Steering wheel adjustment/ rear seats are things I would prefer and hence exclusive is ideal. However most important thing is low owner / comprehensive maintianence.

If only someone on here wanted to sell!

Nshooter, I have a ’spare' C6 for sale, meets all your criteria.
2006 2.7HDi Exclusive
75,000 miles in black paintwork with cream interior and Lounge rear seats.

Full service history, a previous owner had it for many years, annually serviced every 6-8000 miles, with additional maintenance carried out to keep it in top condition.

A major service was carried out 1000 miles ago (all filters, gearbox oil, discs/pads, suspension drop links, front spheres) by B.L.Autos who specialise in C6 and have an excellent reputation in the Citroen world.
Prior to sale it will have the following done by BLAutos; Cambelt, injection pump belt, alternator belt, water pump, radiator (tiny weep on the existing rad), alternator clutch pulley and a new MOT, along with thorough check over and any faults fixed.
So, a new owner can have confidence and know there's nothing needing attention imminently. Price will be within your budget.
I live very close to.B.L.Autos so would be welcome to chat to them about the car, put on on their ramp and inspect etc.
