Hi , it seems I have exhaust gas leaking from the rear turbo, local stealer wants to replace the (Garrett) unit but I think it must be servicable e.g. I hope it will be a seal/gasket. Has anyone else had this or similar problem? cheers Mike |

Dealers won't repair units like the turbo, they will simply replace. It's all about cost v time (plus putting a warranty on the repair) - it's faster and easier for them to simply change out the 'faulty' (if it actually is) part. However they will charge for the whole job and if that doesn't resolve the issue, tough, you move onto the next stage in the process, whatever it may be. Your better off looking for a dedicated Turbo Repair Centre and let them take a look at it. |

I can't imagine the turbo unit itself is leaking as it is likely to be single casting. More likely a gasket as you say. I fear we are going through a painful learning experience with these cars as they pass out of the stealer network over to independent specialists. This sounds like the sort of thing an experienced Indy might be able to fix for a fiver's worth of gasket and an hour's work. Sadly, as Dave says, dealers will simply replace parts. The problem at the moment of course is there are no Indys dealing with them yet. |

Some will michael, look in the 'Independent Review section - Click Here - if you need to find someone near I know it doesn't help Mike H but the Turbo Centre Derby have good reports if anyone else has a problem |

Thanks to all, yes exactly, I am told the Citroen catalogue rates these a "unservicable" items. I know they only want to swap parts and turn over the work. The last thing they need is a yard full of dead cars waiting for outside repairs. I think it is the same with my steering pump leak. And now unservicable injectors. How about this $1000 Aud for a steering pump $1400 Aud ea for injectors $5000 Aud for a turbo Of course I am looking elsewhere. I was over last month, would be better to fly back and pick up the parts myself. I will persist, I have found a local to look at the turbo, thanks. At least i have the "old tech" XM and DS. I'ts All in the fun, we are learning about this new technology. Thanks Mike |

Mike, I have just PM'd you a link that will save a small fortune compared to Aus prices However a turbo (000375P1) is listed at £2,118.74 retail from Citroen, however as it's a Garret, it may be available elsewhere and still £700 cheaper than in Aus. A power steering pump is around £1,023 retail An injector is £267.81 retail New but P/ex is available which brings the cost down to £246.00 retail All are based on my Vin but you would need to quote yours to ensure you get the correct parts (prices should'nt change much) and there before any discount available but + postage. |

BTW there is a used one available on eBay for £323. It's from a water damaged car (wasn't that deep though to touch the turbo as far as I'm aware) They may also have a power steering pump |

I've bought stuff from them before and they are good to deal with. In this situation I would try this one first. |

Trainman and a couple of other members live close by, maybe one of them could help? If not you could have it sent to me and I can forward it on, but it would put the postage cost up for you. What I don't understand is that Hills say on the listing that they can post abroad, but looks like they restrict that to Europe. |
