Hello Everyone, I'm about to buy a C6 so I figured I'd join up in advance to have a look for known issues etc.. I'm a long term Citroen fan although it would seem I don't have anywhere like the ownership experience of some people on here. I lived in France in 1988 for a year and bought myself a CX whilst out there. (I also found an SM in a farmhouse in the Dordogne - if only I'd bought it !).. after that I was hooked on the quirkiness of it all. Since then I've had an old BX and two C5's (older and new shape estates). I no longer need the estate as the kid(s) have gone and my missus has bought herself a pickup truck which I can borrow when needed..... So, decided to buy myself a C6 Exclusive whilst I had the money and no need for a utility vehicle. I've liked them for ages but couldn't either afford or want to pay the high premium for new or nearly new.. Anyway, there you go, I'm sure I'll be asking more questions than I'll be providing answers. The car I'm looking at has the following problems (other than things like tyres or scuffs) CD not ejecting Cruise control doesn't work Rust bubble on drivers door Door rubber between front doors and rear doors Seems like at least two of these are regular known issues, dealer says he will fix them before I buy it so we will see.. Anyway, thanks for reading this far.. I work in IT and for recreation I'm an advanced scuba and cave diver.. Happy to trade questions/answers on any of those subjects in return for C6 ownership guidance. I've been on a Nissan Navara owners forum before when we owned one of those and they were/are invaluable sources of info.. Cheers JP |

CD not ejecting Member <m3mpower> - Click Here - is the Magnetti Marelli guru! Cruise control doesn't work Much covered on the forum. Mine still doesn't behave well; not permanently, anyway. It always allows itself to wake up after bashing the underside of the steering column nacelle and continues to respond for a few trips. Rust bubble on drivers door Not rust per se; the doors are aluminium; my driver's door has just started a 'show' at the front upper edge. Mine's a March 2006 car. Door rubber between front doors and rear doors These harden and crack from UV-exposure. Be ready for pleasure and pain, in equal measure... |

Thanks for the guidance.. The dealer (not a Citroen specialist) says he will fix all the fixable issues (not the bubble) before we shake hands. I'm not convinced they will be able to sort it but I'll let them worry about that, plus it'll give me something to haggle about on the price.. Currently they're asking £8900 for it with 63k on it (it's a 59 plate).. Thoughts on the price ? According to Autotrader it's £900 overpriced.. |

That price seems a bit high but it depends on the state of the car. Especially with a C6, it's a good idea to go look at (and drive) several cars to get some base feeling for what's good and bad. The first car I looked at seemed ok however, compared to the car I finally bought, and with what I know now, it had trouble written all over it Also, tem minutes chat with the previous owner of the car you are looking at would probably prove invaluable. Good luck with your search. |

I've driven two, both seemed fine to me.. but then I'm no expert. How do you contact a previous owner if it's with a dealer ? |

a 2009 car is probably a 2007 car that's sat around for a couple of years. Where is the car for sale? It's Highly probably, somebody on here will know it.

Well, I've got a copy of the V5 and most recent MOT and everything seems to stack up (VIN and mileage history). It's been on a private plate twice before but the original reg was GJ59nnn which, from the Owners Register looks like it was in a bunch of registrations done by Citroen UK. From the history I have it seems to have spent much of it's time in Scotland in the Cupar & St Andrews areas. When and if I buy it I will add the details to the register. Seems a little disingenuous to add owners details to a car register that I don't yet own.. 7th Oct is the day if the dealer does everything I agreed with him (I'm not holding my breath) |

I have a list of some 633 C6's that have been sold across the UK at various times GJ 59 NNN is not on that list. The list isn't complete, but it does give me an insight into some history of the cars. |

PM'd you the correct reg.. Wasn't sure about the protocol for posting complete registrations on here. When and if I buy it I will add it to the register |

To be fair, I'd want to be paying that sort of dosh for a 3.0 HDi, albeit with a few acceptable niggles and, perhaps, 20k-miles more...

Well.. I pulled the trigger after a month of waiting for them to fix all the niggles. I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I picked it up that they'd fixed everything on the list. So here she is in all her gallic glory - Click Here - I'm off to Edinburgh tomorrow so she will get a long run to stretch her legs, given the info in the service book too it would seem to a return to her previous homeland. I figure my first tasks will be to update the satnav and get hold of some lexia software |
