Hi, being a wrinkly, and a registered Grumpy Old Git (have the mug to prove it) I have never used a Forum or bulletin board (are they different?) before! It's taken a month to find out how to get this far!! Sad eh?

I am the proud (and sad) owner of a C6. Started with a Dyane as a second car (fantastic) followed on with four XMs and two C5s, one of which I still have. Always bought exclusives.

Wanted a C6 since first heard of in 2005 and bought BJ07CCD from DM (can I mention names?) on 1st July.

Why sad?

Within two weeks of buying the car - LCD display went off a couple of times for no apparent reason and on my way from Warwick to London, with no display, suddenly, a warning light came on telling me the engine was overheating. I pulled over to the hard shoulder immediately and cutting a long nightmare short, I've been told my engine is knackered!!

I've located - at last - a 407 Coupe with a 2.7l HDI engine and am now trying to find someone to do an engine swap!!

So a sad new member!!

If anyone has any suggestions, help or advice; I live in warwick and trying to find someone who I think has half an idea of what they're doing, with this engine and model being quite rare and specialised?

Obviously, I'll have the old engine which I guess someone might like, to rebuild, so again, if anyone has any ideas?

Am I supposed to use this thread for what I've written? Sorry if not!

You need the ECU to match the engine.

Go to: - Click Here - and search by postcode for someone near you.

Or, get the car taken to BL Autos in Welwyn or Eurocarcare in Derby.

I would suggest speaking to Robert Lowdell at BL Autos in Welwyn Garden City, Roberts has dealt with many a C6 and should be able to do something for you.

I don't have his number but you should be able to locate it, oh and

Andre,

Welcome. Sorry to hear your news but glad that you seem to have retained the energy to sort it. Was it coolant loss by any chance do you know that killed your engine?

Best regards,

BL Autos & Sons - 01707 327555. I just had my 2.7 Exclusive given a very thorough once-over for the first time by them and am very pleased with the outcome. It's like a new car (and, well, actually, there are now a lot of new parts on the car, so that's closer to the truth than the apparent hyperbole!). It's really nice to find someone who knows these cars and in in empathy with them. Best of luck getting yours sorted, and welcome to the club/ Forum.

LCD - Click Here -

As far as your engine being knackered: that's total b o l l o c k s until someone like BL Autos tells you so! Mine got seriously hot. Oil-temp overheat, in fact. That was 15K-miles ago!

Get an authoritative second opinion. Then a third...

Hi Phil,

The car had overheated the week before, on the same route and I drove straight into a service station and filled up with water; I assumed the water level was low as I'd been told it had stood for about eight months; didn't think to check the level again!!

So not totally sure, but assume it was a lack of coolant?

E3Steve reckons engine may not be knackered, so think I'll take the advice and get on the phone to B L Autos and get it transported over to Welyn Garden City, for them to take a good look.

Cheers!

André
