My 2006 exclusive passenger seat has suddenly stopped working via the switch pack on the door card. I've checked the fuse 30amp, checked for anything jamming runners but all OK. Tried a lhd drivers switch thinking it will be a rhd passenger switch but it won't work anything. Any other ideas please?
Thanks

I had a dead passenger seat when I bought my car. The fault was traced by my specialist to a 'secondary' fuse. If your problem turns out to be the switch itself, I have a spare that I bought but (as it turned out) never needed.

Have know a wire in the harness from drivers door to front pillar to break on some cars from much use, may be worth checking for feeds etc if fuses are ok..

Update:received switch very kindly sent by Bruce (thank you) but still no movement. checked wiring from switch to A pillar and all seems ok. rechecked fuses all ok. is there a secondary fuse located somewhere else or any other ideas before i book in with electrical specialist next week?

Incidentally, the rear chaufeur switch doesnt move the passenger seat either but dont know if this makes a difference?

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

30 amp fuse for system! IMO then if all else is ok I would look for a relay, can't put my hands on a theoretical wiring diagram though.

Ps earthing fault for the system if it is intermittent.

Ah, you didn't tell us that before! Mind you, neither did I say that when my front switch wasn't working the chauffeur switch was still operational.

I can't remember whether you said that you have had a good old, dirty old grope ... under the seat, to make sure that nothing is trapped in the seat-guides. It really does not take much to block up the system. DAMHIKT, IJD, OK!

Since there is no urgency whatsoever, as opposed to when I mailed it to you, just send the thing back in due course, cheap and slow. Sory that it didn't work out. Meanwhile, good luck.

Here's a thought. Are the switch buttons still illuminated, even though there's no motion? If so, it could be a clue that there's something in the way, rather than an electrical fault.

Did you look through the wiring diagram zip file? - Click Here -

Thanks Dave,
No relays : may be a going over with Lexia diagbox.

However worth starting the car and have it running to make sure the battery is up to spec, try the seat control with the door open, daft I know but will clear up some possible issues.

Thanks to everyone for help. Bruce, the switch will be posted on Tuesday when I get back. Thanks!!
The door switch doesn't illuminate with door open or shut. Auto electrician booked next week so I will update. Had a look at wiring diagram but a bit above my skill set(unsurprisingly) but thanks date.
Great site chaps.

My first shot would be to inspect the connectors at:

a) the switch group itself: could it be inversely connected to the pins? (The connector body, which is 'keyed' to prevent inadvertent connection may be missing -- mine is, where the door mirror system switch connects and can be wrongly connected), and

b) the CPC (Circular Plastic Connector) at the A-pillar hinge post -- inspect closely for corrosion (although this is unlikely as they're very well sealed when the locking ring is properly fastened!)

Good luck...

I doubt that a wiring diagram will help as the circuits are controlled via CANbus (Controller Area Network) with localised 'load-centres' for the car's consumers. These load centres show up on the wiring diagrams as just blocks comprising discrete devices (chips).

I will be taking mine to the specialist for its MoT on Wednesday. I will ask whether they can offer any clues to your problem.
