As the C6s creep into MOT mid age, it should be possible to see some stats

.... Except C6s not shown in the database?

Maybe there aren't enough cars around to make collecting the data worthwhile from the publishers point of view?

Dave, that might be the case but a check could also be made for other low volume cars. Note sure too if there is a lag between MOT tests dates and publishing dates for the data.

I'll have a dig around later in the week.

Yes, I see there is even data for the Alfa SZ - and there were only 1,000 of them sold worldwide, only 71 registered in the UK. There must be more than 71 2006 and 2007 C6s on UK roads.

Maybe none are failing

Mine's got its MOT tomorrow. I shouldn't be worried but I always get a bit anxious beforehand.

Mine passed yesterday, however they did notice a "slight leak from the FNS suspension leg" and have recommend that it be replaced. Apparently they are a guarenteed replacement up to 36,000 miles.

Mine being nearly 5 years old and with 71,000 on the clock means they have to ask Citroen UK. Bearing in mind I've had the car lesss than 12 months and it was given a "Citroen approved used car 1-year guarantee agreement"

I am hopeful that they will agree to cover the cost of it.

I was right to be anxious: mine failed on the same thing, albeit on the O/S/F. I had two days left to run on my extended warranty and, despite the car having done just over 72,000 miles, they agreed to replace it under warranty. Nice one Citroen

What do you mean, "nice one"? Four year old cars shouldn't have MoT defects. This doesn't bode well

Four years old is one factor, 70,000+ miles in both cases is the more relevant one in my opinion

Dampers/shock absorbers do wear out and I remember cars where you wouldn't get anywhere near that kind of mileage from one.

Because at that sort of mileage, one might have expected them to argue for fair wear and tear.

As an aside, my warranty claim led me to deal with my nearest main dealership, Citroen Letchworth. Normally, I'd avoid main stealerships like the plague, preferring to use independent specialists instead, but I had no choice in this case.

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience: the service department staff were helpful and courteous throughout and it's the first time I can ever recall a a garage phoning me to update me on the progress of the work; normally it's me that has to phone them.

So thanks Colin and Sudesh at Citroen Letchworth. Now if you could only reduce your hourly labour rates to reasonable prices, I might even consider getting my car serviced at your dealership.

He means he's relieved it's not going to cost him money, Michael . However, you are correct. 4 years old and with failures like this doesn't bode well. This is an expensive executive car, not a throwaway piece of cr@p. It shouldn't be failing like this on its second MoT!

Spoke to my local dealer yesterday, who tells me that the suspension leg isn't covered under the normal warrenty as the car has done more than 36,000 miles. I pointed out that Citroen UK had replaced one on another vehicle under the extended warrenty, but to no avail. He has said however, that they are more than happy to do the work, if Citroen UK will authorise it. guess who I'll be ringing this morning

Just spoken to Slough who tell me it is up to the dealer to make a claim against the warranty, they have however given me a case number. My local dealer warranty manager is on holiday until saturday so it looks like there's going to be nothing achieved this week.
