Hi,
Have any members had, or heard of, any experiences with 'mapping'a C6.
I know someone who runs two Nissan Navarra trucks and he loves the new power and economy obtained.
His vehicles cost £300 each for the work, but he has already saved that in the first year in fuel costs. Both vehicles are three years old now and nothing un-toward has happened.
So, bearing in mind that the C6 is not the most frugal of vehicles and maybe a tad more power would not go amiss, what are the forums thoughts on this matter.

I had mine done yesterday, it's taken the power up from 208bhp to 250bhp, I can feel the difference mostly at the lower end of the torque band, the hesitation has been reduced too.

Economy wise, it's to early to tell, but the lad that did it, tells me he can get 40+mpg out of his C6 so we will see.

Had mine done last year, noticeable power difference, it flies. Economy wise not much difference, I do 600 miles a week in mine and before the map I was getting between 38-40,now I'm getting about 40-43, hope this helps.

Hi,
Have contacted a company called quantum that seem to be a franchise operation.
I am in the Southampton area so if any members based near here have had the work done, would be pleased to hear from them,

I'm in Warsash; which colour is yours?

Look for Rich in forum posts; he had his 250-remap done in Bournemouth. The car's now owned by colinc (South Shields) and he gets her serviced here, in Curbridge (Andy Lamb -- - Click Here - ) who look after a few Sixes.

How bizarre, we were in Warsash on Easter Monday parked down at the front.
Our car is 2009 black with cream leather.
Am arranging to have a re-map done at a BMW specialist near Hedge End.
Guy's name is Sean and he got a B sc degree, so thats got to be good, has'nt it......

You probably had a pint in The Rising Sun, then...

I passed a Steel/Wadabis 59-plate 2.7 in Brook Lane; he was turning left into Warsash Road. thought that might've been yours. We were in 'her' Megane Cabrio.

Interesting. I'd like to know how you reckon Sean's re-map affects off-the-line performance and economy once you're up & running! I have no intention of throwing any more dosh than I need to at my 2.7; I'll sit & wait now for the right 3.0HDi.

IMO you don't get something for nothing, if it could the manufactures would do the spec from new, instead of their built in safety perimeters.

IMO the C6 has some weak components that make any loading through mapping a shorter running life within the units.

You will need to be prepared to keep the car serviced more frequently, and, sometimes decreasing the service interval by half.
When you fill up you are also restricting yourself to high quality fuel and you must be prepared to replace components that fail due to the extra work they are doing.

When an engine is remapped to produce more power etc, you are also creating more stress and strain, so things will start to fail such as air flow sensors egr valves. Also turbos can wear out.

A remap will often introduce boost from lower down the rev range and because of this the turbo is running faster and hotter.

Oil will degrade and you may have expensive turbo repairs on your hands with other major components like pistons and bearings.

The mapping is a mod so more cost with insurance.

Warranties are also void.

As per Speedfix, I would be careful about overloading some weak components: in particular the Aisin transmission.

I'm sure the transmission torque limits are the reason for the substantial downrating of the 3.0HDi in the Citroen, compared to its rear wheel drive "siblings".

Agree, but low Power takeout is also due to considerations since higher HP makes a more expensive car for the customer. France and Norway have high taxes on engine power.

Thank you all for your input.
Have booked my 6 in at iridiumengineering.co.uk on this coming Monday for re-map.
Will take some amateurish timings eg 0-60 and 50-70 before the surgeons knife is applied, then the same after recovery.
Have been running a 1993 E320 coupe until the 6 and I guess used to umph off the line, a tad missing with the 6,hence the re-map.
Will keep you guys informed of outcome of surgery.....

My economy has improved, I was averaging 32.9mpg between home and work, that has now gone up to 36.7mpg. Tonight I reset the computer on the way home. M6 northbound, J22 to J28 with the cruise control set to 65mph I got 47.1mpg.

I looked into remapping, but decided on a tuning box instead, and got a bluespark pro + boost diesel tuning box, and must say i've been damn impressed with it in terms of performance gain:

but then i've recently come across this:

their iMode version has the maps changeable from within the car (colour touchscreen via bluetooth) or via an app on android... naturally i think this suits the character of the C6 more (especially the colour touch screen). I expect to receive it on Friday and will post how i find it.

However, I must say for the price the bluespark box has been EXCEPTIONAL....
