To put things in perspective, the cheapest Exclusive on the CUK website is a Nov 2006 2.7 with 36,000 miles. It costs £3500 more than the one on ebay. The fuel costs, based on cost per mile is probably comparable to the diesel but the running costs of the petrol engine are generally lower.

Added to that, because this car was registered before 23/3/06 the tax is £200 a year less than the above mentioned diesel. When I bought my car I decided that the £2000 premium, to get a diesel rather than petrol, would take me several years to recoup. With the LPG conversion, at £45 for 350 miles - I currently spend approaching £80 for the same distance - it would save £1200 a year.

I'm sure it would make sense for somebody. Admittedly, given the amount of Continental touring I do, the Eurotunnel issue and the reduced boot space would be a nuisance but the tank usually goes in the spare wheel well and some current cars, notably the DS3, have the spare wheel as an optional extra!

I take your point, Pete, but I've seen Exclusive Diesels for sale at prices close to this eBay car! There was one on Autotrader recently at £10995! There's a low mileage one currently available for £11995 (25000 miles against 51000 miles for the LPG one!) so, as I said, unless the eBay seller would take offers, I don't think it is a particularly good price, all things considered.

This car was owned by the BBC till recently. I saw it advertised on Ebay with a list of starring appearnces like Spooks and Hotel Babylon only a couple of weeks ago. The seller was trying to make this a selling point. May still me on as it was a high miler.
