Hi, I shall be receiving a new C6 on Friday and this may seem like a strange question but how is the boot lid opened? Is it similar to the C5 with a rubber covered button underneath a lip, above the number plate, or, is it automatic and self opening as on an Audi, or Vauxhall? If anyone knows, that would be helpful. Thanks |

Thanks for that. You'd think that as the currently top of the range model and price, it would have been automatic (by pressing a button on the key fob) or from inside the car, wouldn't you?

Yes but the design is from 10 or so years ago.................. Fuel Cap cover is via a dashboard button though |

It puzzles me that the fuel release is electric but the boot isn't. Then I figured that the target customer has to open the cap for someone to put the fuel in, but doesn't have anything as vulgar as luggage |

I have actually pondered over this and I suspect it might be down to the weight of the boot.

Do the two "gas" struts inside the lid, lift it automatically, or, do you still have to put some, or, lots of physical effort into lifting the boot lid?

No it doesn't auto lift, but doesn't require a lot of effort.

That's good, because the C5 boot lid was quite heavy to lift, also, they didn't have any struts. So, the "gas" struts do lighten some of the weight to lift the lid and does the lid feel "featherweight", then? |

One of my struts failed, and I noticed that the boot felt a little heavier, and was prone to slam closed. So, they do help to take the weight. Now the strut has been replaced, and if anything it's too effective - I occasionally have to have a second try to get it to latch down! But it's not a big deal. With or without strut assistance, I've never felt at risk of straining myself when working the boot lid. |
