I've almost lost the will to live trying to get things sorted out. Over the past few weeks I've had repeated statements from the dealers saying that they have been trying get the claim submitted through the warranty claim system. Not having the right password, not having time to do things, not having answered all of the questions etc. etc. etc.

Finally, the claim has been registered and now I have to wait for an independent inspector of view the car as the claim is for over £1,000 and they have to make sure the [%*^#@!] thing is really broken and that I'm not pretending. that I have no stanav, stereo/radio, parking sensors, controls for the climate control, telephone, a speedometer that reads in kph instead of mph and a load of other things gone.

Matt,

Your comment that "Bluetooth pairs well with my Blackberry, phonebook etc all good. Sound quality not as good as my Parrot or Sim in dash, but ok." has got me wondering. Does the new software only have Bluetooth or will I still have the sim card and built-in phone option as well?

Hi Richard,
Bluetooth is not a Software/Firmware upgrade, it's only available on upgraded Hardware. The RT5 system has Bluetooth and Sim ( fitted on 3 litre c6's post 2010) the RT4 has Sim only. I suspect your warranty will supply a like for like replacement for your RT4, however the cost will likely be the same to supply a RT5 so suggest you ask the question and ask for the upgrade at no cost. Give it a go........Cheers, Matt

What a [%*^#@!] saga this has turned out to be.

Finally, after a month and half after starting the process of getting the thing fixed under the Citroen extended warranty the car is finally going in tomorrow to be fixed. Not a Citroen problem but a [%*^#@!] useless shower the the dealership who have had to be taught stage by stage how to submit the claim on the Citroen system. I haven't bothered asking about a RT5 unit, I'll just be happy to have whatever they fit. Any further complications will be too painful to deal with.

I must remember is that the speed will be showing MPH, not the KPH I've had since the unit died.

She's back with a fully functioning brain
One slight glitch to start in that the tyre pressure sensors hadn't been properly programmed but that was quickly sorted.
Telephone directory reinstalled - must be a RT4 unit as there's no sign of Bluetooth.
The new maps still think my offices are in the middle of a field with no road access. It will be interesting to see if it still thinks my house is on the other side of the river.

Just have to spend the next few months ripping CD's.

I was just so pleased to get the car back that I didn't think to ask. I'll try and find out and let you know.

I just popped out to the shops and the car started with a black screen. Actually, it was blue. Rather than the Citroen screen I got this.

WTF?

Hi When RT4/5 is new, and never been programmed to a car, it displays "Magneti Marelli"

But once programmed to the car's VIN number:

VF3......it displays Peugeot
VF7......it display Citroen

And once programmed, it should always display one of these two logos

Your RT4 was obviously programmed at the dealer, and if it's showing "Magneti Marelli" it looks like it has lost it's programming...which is strange!

Is it beeping ?

Thanks for that.

The only beep that I've had was with the low fuel warning. I think I should get back to the dealer and put it to them.

Yes, definitely take it back, it's s new unit.
They need to reprogram the VIN, it will then show Citroen on boot screen
