[%*^#@!] thing. About 9 months ago I had a software upgrade which appeared to rectify the system constantly crashing out. All was well up until this morning when the thing died. Black screen, no functions and every now and then it looked like it was trying to re-boot, Citroen logo coming on, and then nothing. Feck all. Zilch. Nowt.

Booked in for a diagnostic test tomorrow with warranty in hand.

[%*^#@!].

Looks like this is going to get interesting. Call from the dealer saying the diagnostic is saying the system needs a software update and that Citroen are saying it wouldn't be covered by the warranty. The software was updated back in March to cure the thing constantly rebooting and that was done under warranty. They are now checking what version is on there and going back to Slough to get their further comments.

I can see the potential for an informative telephone conversation as to why this was covered by the warranty and now it isn't. Also, does the system have a shelf life whereby it commits suicide if you don't constantly update the software?

I must admit that I'm watching this with great interest, I'm currently running 7.** and the software and maps both need updating, to say that I am becoming concerned is an understatement.....

I'm definitely going to need help by the time this is over.

To start off with, the update of software is step 1 in a list of 10 possible actions to define and rectify the problem. I'll probably have to go through the lot given my luck.

Citroen warranty peeps say that the terms of the extended warranty are not the same as the original manufacturer's warranty. Now there's a surprise. The original warranty would have covered the software, god knows why, but the extended warranty only covers the component itself. Ergo, the cost of installing the software itself is not covered as it was before. However, if after how many stages have to be gone through to correct the fault, it turns out to be a faulty component then the 'reasonable cost' for the diagnostic process will be covered. That's nice.

Dealers fail to download new software over the interwebby. Dealers now waiting for disc/s to arrive.
At least there will be no argument now as to whose car we leave at the train station over the weekend.

Stay calm Richard. Don't think you have anything to worry about. Let them get the disc, 8.20 is the latest and do the upgrade for you. Disc costs £30 and takes an hour , so about the same again I think they charge. If this doesn't fix things your warranty should cover a new unit. If the upgrade works then it's only cost you around £60 and you will have the bang unto date software. Unfortunatly I have become wise in the ways of Navidrive over the last few weeks, so you see from my thread. Best of luck, Matt

Now this has got me wondering:

  • If the dealer does the software upgrade, what warrenty cover is there if in say 6 months time the head unit crashes?

  • If the dealer does the map upgrade as well, is that covered?

  • What about the speed camera update?

  • Can the harddrive be replaced and new software be installed?

  • Are we better off putting an after market head unit and TomTom in the car?

Thanks Matt, that's a good point. I must admit I was expecting to pay lot more than that for the discs and having forgotten to ask about the price at the time. Let's see what Monday brings.

They would deny all responsibility, and would probably be safe to do so.

  • If the dealer does the map upgrade as well, is that covered?

Same here, they would get it working, but any future failure you're on your own.

  • What about the speed camera update?

This is part of the Firmware upgrade alegedly although I have 8.20 , latest maps and I have no speed cameras.

  • Can the harddrive be replaced and new software be installed?

They won't tough the Navidrives apart from Firmware upgrades. Only offer a swop @ £2300 list. The only guy in the UK who does this is m3mpower who is about on here and Eurovans. Has a shop on bay and is highly recommended when all else fails as it did for me!

  • Are we better off putting an after market head unit and TomTom in the car?

Navidrive looks after most of the bells and whistles on the C6 eg Parking sensors, Air Con Controls so only the RT3/4/5 will do.

Cheers

Thought I would update on my RT5 .

Latest maps give more helpful POI
Postcode search works in road name unto 4 digits eg B90 1. ( still no very good though )
List function on radio actually previews station as you scroll down . I love this , very handy.
Bluetooth pairs well with my Blackberry, phonebook etc all good. Sound quality not as good as my Parrot or Sim in dash, but ok.

Still to be resolved......

I have an orange Pug backlight , instead of Citroen yellow. Nobody notices but me , however I'm waiting for m3mpower to get a Citroen control panel and he will swop.
Parking sensors nor aligned correctly to car. Thinks it's a 407 Coupe so I would have bumped before Goes red and continuous beep. This is a Lexia programming issue.
I have a picture of a 407 Coupe appear when I adjust ride height. Needs image download.
Finally my spoiler has stopped working. I don't think this is related, as worked fine while I had no Navidrive fitted at all for a couple of weeks. But it may be a Lexia issue. Nobody else on here has had a failed spoiler that wasn't just a software reset issue I believe?

I'm still in dispute with dealer over supply and advice given around the disc. I think they are hoping I will just go away, and they are probably right, now I have it all working again.

Cheers

Well, it's not the software. The unit is buggered.

[%*^#@!]! I've just realised I'm going to have to load everything on to the jukebox again. On the other hand, I should have new maps and everything. Just need the warranty approval now.

Oh, FFS! I've chased the dealers for last couple of days to find out if Citroen warranty have authorised the work. In frustration I rang Citroen to find out what is happening and was told that the dealers haven't submitted a claim.
