Hello all. Starting a new thread to see if I can get some more advice. (thanks Chris for previous)
After checking previous I decided to try the 8.11 upgrade for my RT4. Got the disk from the Dealer (£30) to play it safe.
Loaded disc on way to Brighton on Sunday and all appeared well for 30 mins (C6 Citroen symbol) then screen went blank. Carried on driving for around an hour then pulled over. Switched engine off in hope Navidrive would come back to life, but nothing.....now flatlining and disc stuck in. HELP !

Matt,

Doe's anything else work? Radio, etc? Have you tried holding the dark button? have you tried holding the eject button? I'm wondering if the fuse in the back of the head unit has blown

All buttons dead above the Climate controls. Held down everything. Tried fuse in glove box. Nothing. Also parking sensors not beeping although Green light still on. Seem to remember there is a reset by pressing and holding multiple buttons but can't remember what.
Basically, I think I've killed it...........

I agree, I think you've killed it. I'm not a fan of trying to load it whilst you're driving, you should compare the cost of the fuel required to keep the engine running long enough to load the update against the cost of replacing the brick that used to be your RT3. This thread - Click Here - explains the proper procedure and warns of the consequences of getting it wrong; and you could also have saved yourself 30 quid by downloading the disc from the same site.

Matt,

Have you checked the fuse in the back of the head unit?

Checked the fuse on the back of the RT4 today and it was fine. I have killed it, good and proper. Can survive without SatNav and Ent but lack of Parking Sensors is killing me.
Options....

1) Go back to dealer who sold mr 8.11 disc and kick off.
2) Try and get RT4 repaired somewhere.
3) Wildcard is get an RT5 from somewhere. Wonder if the wiring looms are comparable.......

So any experience or advice to share , fellow C6'ers?

Judging by the date you first brought this to our attention and having searched through the internet for the earliest mention of Version 8.20, I would suggest that the dealer sold you an out of date software disc. The earliest mention of 8.20 was on a French forum on 1st July and had hit the GPSunderground.com forum a couple of weeks later. This was probably a month before you were sold Version 8.11.

I am not suggesting that the dealer was trying to cheat you; I had the updates for suspension and engine/gearbox done at the dealers but the Navidrive disc that he had was older than the one I had loaded from Eurovan II. Having said that, the dealer had a duty to check that the disc he sold you was the latest available. This, he clearly didn't do.

I would take the car back to the dealer and insist he put right the damage caused by the disc he sold you, having first a) printed off a copy of the correct procedure for loading the software and b) contacted your local Trading Standards Office and appraised them of the situation. It's very useful to be able to slip their name into any negotiations with the dealer. They are a quite powerful organisation to have on your side.

Good luck,

Pete.

Hello all, I'm getting nowhere I'm afraid. Email sent to Slough after dealer refused to help. No liability as far as they are concerned and no chargeable repair service just a swop for a new unit at £1500.

I've called a few independent audio repair specialists and they sort of laugh when I mention Navidrive! Also left a post on Eurovans to see if any of the Navidrive nuts on there can help but nothing.

I'm sure I followed proceedure after reading all threads, seems like my total flatline is a one off.

Anyhow I'm looking at the option of finding a breaking C6 or Pug 407. Has anyone seen anything out there ?

There's a couple of head units on Fleabay (£250/£350 area), but, bear in mind that they will need to be coded to the car using a lexia

There are two breaking, one 2005 unregistered, and the other being Phil Clark's 3.0hdi, which has the latest nav. It was for sale at Copart, but where it's gone now, I've no idea.

I have found a Pug 407 Coupe Breaking. It's a 2.7 Sport 2008. It's not a " multimedia" so should come with an RT3 (i think) but the photo looks identical to my RT4 with hard drive. The Reg is RJ58 YXY. Has anyone the power to check what unit it is ?

Thought about this overnight...... My check should be .....multi changer in boot = rt3. No multi changer in boot = rt4. So, if I have found a cheap rt4 with hard drive in this 407 will it work in my c6 ? Thanks

It should work, but will require coding to the cars Vin via Lexia other wise it will keep 'beeping' at you which is very annoying.
