Air con issues - is it flaps or a motor?? |

Hi Everyone, I've just completed a fantastic 650 mile trip to Ireland and back. On the final return leg from Fisguard to home late at night, I noticed that the cabin was getting uncomfortably warm. It seems as though the air direction is only going up to the windscreen and not adjusting to flow to the dashmounted vents as it had done seamlessly throughout the rest of the trip. Having scoured this fantastic forum, I am aware that there are known weaknesses in the flaps. What can I do to diagnose this and which fix is required as one of them seems quite invasive (having to cut the old flap out!) and there also seems to be quite accessible areas behind the glove box and driver's knee airbag... As always any guidance gratefully received! |

Use the manual controls to direct air to the various levels and the temp to low. Note the results on both sides and post them up. Flaps control the temperature and as long as you can move from hot to cold on both sides I would say they're working fine. Air distribution is something different altogether. If the manual controls work and air can be moved from the screen to the face and then to the floor, I guess you're looking at a control/measurement issue and a lexia session might be the way forward. |

In my C6 I had cooled air coming only from some of the vents. I was afraid of the famous flap issue, but the root cause turned out to be lack of refrigerant. A standard airco service solved the problem. | ||

Apologies for the delay in updating. Manual adjustment of air direction on either side makes no difference to where the air goes. At start up, when the interior is hot and in automatic mode, the fans come on full blast. I can hear this and a lot or air volume blowing somewhere, however not through any of the vents I can feel except the rear one. The cabin does cool and there is some airflow from the centre and driver’s side vents, less from the passenger side ones. The air is cold. The air-con condenser was replaced 12 months ago. Rear centre vent and armrest cubby cooling unaffected. |

It does sound like an air distribution fault. I think a Diagbox session will be needed to see if any errors have been logged and if the unit can be controlled from the software. The fact that it's impacting both sides suggests a control panel issue but I can't recommend replacement without a lot more data. |

Hi Malpatrinos. Do you have a diagbox/lexia? If not, I have one (although very little experience of using it), and I am in Newbury. I would be interested in what happens, as my C5X7 has similar sounding problems. I won't be around until week after next (Sun 19th onwards). | ||
