According to C6 Friends :- "2.2 HDI 170 BHP Sometimes one of the two turbo’s will not kick in. If it is the first one, the second one won’t come in either because the engine won’t be able to reach the revs needed for that. If the second one doesn’t come in, you’ll notice power dropping off at around 2600 revs. In most cases these problems are caused by one of the 4 electric vacuum valves controlling the turbo’s. Replace all 4 valves, they cost < € 50 a piece." I am having what I think is an intermittent Overboost issue, as when I drive, every now and then, sometimes often, others not at all, and even on gentle uphill acceleration, or heavy acceleration, I loose all power for a second, which causes the whole car to physically baulk. Sometimes this will occur repeatedly, sometimes just once, and I have tried cleaning the throttle valve pressure sensor, and air temperature sensor with electrical cleaner, which seems to work, but then the problem reappears. I have recently ordered a new pressure sensor, air temperature sensor, and two turbo electric vacuum pressure control solenoids, which are visibly located at the sides and front of the engine, but do not know where the other two are located. Does anyone know the location of the two extra solenoids? or are there only two? I have watched a YouTube Video showing the replacement of two of these, on the front, but can find nothing about the replacement of all four. want to replace all four first, to see if the problem is related to the solenoids, before dismantling the turbo wastegate, which may be sticking due to carbon buildup. I was previously told that the baulking I experienced was due to oil/carbon buildup on the throttle pressure sensor, and throttle air-temperature sensor, which I no longer accept, as the car runs fine after the baulking, and those components still have a light coating of oil, due to oil blow-by from the turbos. In addition, I checked and tried to drain the intercooler, where I thought that a lot of oil may have built up, but found nothing to pump out, which suggests that there is not too much oil blowing past the turbos, and that oil deposited on the sensors in the throttle body wasn't an issue, as some blow-by is expected from the turbos, from further research into turbo functions, and how their 'seals' work, which is more like piston rings, not full rubber seals. |

it looks like they're all on the front of the engine somewhere! Perhaps this link will help you - Click Here - I'll be looking for mine as I have an underboost condition above 3k rpm. If I do find them, I'll put some pictures up.... |

Thank you so much MGmike, that is a very helpful link, and shows just 2 Electric Vacuum Valves, and 2 electric Timing Control solenoids (1618T0), which is likely what the C6 Friends article was referring to as four Electric Vacuum Valves, though it looks like those two timing valves are replaced by one 1618JC, or the fiche means you have to buy two separately. Not sure, as clicking the 1618JC link shows a fiche with just one valve, though that may be for a different Citroen./Peugeot vehicle. What do you make of it? Do you think it is a total of four, or the replacement makes it 3? I'm a little confused. I think probably 1619T0 which is two for the one price, has been replaced by 1618JC which one has to buy two of at twice the price. Thank you for the links, at least it looks like the timing valves are still available. Good luck with your underboost issue.

Hey there MGMike, I just wanted to ask you about the link you sent me, as the parts are shown in the UAE (United Arab Emirates), and the order process seems highly suspicious, as it defaults to an address in London for 'self delivery', which is the fictitious address of Sherlock Holmes, 221b Baker Street (which is just a tributary plaque on the wall - I have been there before). I live 120 miles from that address, and would not be able to pick up parts from that fictitious address, from The Manager who has no name, with a phone number that is not even a UK number. I have placed an order for 2 1618JC Vacuum Timing Solenoids, and was only given two choices, to pay cash, or bank transfer, both of which are self-delivery to London, 221b Baker Street. Even the website is titled a demo, which makes me think it is all fake. |

There do seem to be a few red flags for that website, not least cash or bank transfer only. Why not try Autodoc? They have stock for the particular part you're after and from a number of different manufacturers too. I've bought loads of stuff from Autodoc, the only downside is it usually takes 10 days or so from ordering to delivery. Some people have had issues with Autodoc but my experience, buying for 4 different cars, has been positive...except for the slight delay in getting the stuff to me. |

Howdy, ReaperCushions, I have literally just done that, and got two Feb-Billstein ones for £62 delivered. I had loads of issues with trying to order it through my Firefox, turned off all my security, let scores of ad-servers in, still wouldn't let me buy - then used my LibreWolf browser (Built for privacy) and got straight in without issue. My head hurts after that, but I have cancelled the other order, as I'm pretty sure it is a fake. I have an account with AutoDoc, but I've been having major issues trying to buy from them in the last year or so, but now I realise it must be something in Firefox that is causing the issues (even with all my security addons turned off). Thanks for your response, my Vacuum solenoids arrived today, now just got to wait for the Timing solenoids to arrive.

I should have said... Don't order from there! I only use the site for the diagrams and checking part numbers. There's plenty of solenoids on eBay (most of them of Chinese manufacture) from more reputable suppliers if you need to order them. |

Hey there MGike, thanks for getting back, it's OK the 221B Baker Street address alerted me to it, and so I cancelled (I shared no financial details fortunately Hi to C6Dave too, I hope you are all well and enjoying your C6's in this weather. Regarding the inbuilt Firefox VPN, it is off, and I also use NordVPN, which I disconnected from to try and work out why I couldn't order from Autodoc, as well as turning off all my security, and letting ad-servers (one after the other after the other), to see if my firewall was blocking parts of the website, preventing me from purchase, all to no avail, so I think that maybe you are right, even with it turned off. I shall dig into the about:config and see what else related might be interfering. LibreWolf however, is based on Firefox, but with privacy enhancements, and has no built-in VPN, and worked without issue on Autodoc. So some sleuthing to be done - coincidentally in a Sherlock Holmes like manner - 221B Baker Street, I'm still incredulous that website uses that address for London - why they chose that is a mystery to me ... a Sherlockian Mystery! :-D |

TBF one of them is well hidden under the throttle body and I'm not sure a picture would help  So, one is mounted to the left of the fuel filter on the front of the engine. Easy to get at when you are looking in the right place. The second one is on the right end of the block but, as above, well hidden by the throttle body which looks like it needs to be removed before you can get to the solenoid mounting bolts. Both of mine appear to be working (well at least they respond to the actuator test from the Autel test equipment) and I guess I'll be looking elsewhere for the underboost problem  |
