Brake Issues

 Bit of history to this, so get comfortable!

October 2025:

  • All discs and pads replaced
    Rear N/S calliper replaced
    Brakes felt different: spongy and would fade under heavy braking


May 2026
  • Mot failure due to binding N/S calliper
    Front O/S also binding but not as bad
    Both replaced
    Brakes still don’t feel right and now there is also noise/vibration when braking at <35/40 mph


Could a binding calliper (don’t know how long it was doing this) have damaged the new discs?
What are C6 brakes supposed to feel like?

Yes a binding caliper could and most likely will damage a new disc. The heat generated will warp the disc and it sounds like you'll need to replace that as well.

Generally, I find C6 brakes are a little soft even with new discs and pads. I'm not sure if it's the system itself or the brand of pads used. Either way, it takes a long time to wear them out to try the next set

Yes, I do all my own maintenance.

No, I didn’t - one garage (a Citroën specialist) did the discs and pads in October and a local mechanic did the MOT repairs in May.

I’m taking it back to the MOT garage this week as they’re local.
