Hi everybody
suddenly and for no specific reason the display of my C6 3.0 HDI went "black", with no access to any function, showing the message: Please Insert Upgrade CD

Is there anybody who already had this problem ?
Is there any chance I can fix the problem by myself?

Thanks a lot in advance
Max

I would say the hard drive has failed in the head unit.

There's a member supplied tutorial on how to convert it to a flash drive - Click Here -

Good luck

If you instert an update CD it will reinstall the system and repair/block out bad sectors in harddisk. This might be all you need. I did it many times before the HDD gave up after many years. Then I got a cheap HDD from Amazon. (but a flash drive is more elegant and fast)

You could try this from France: - Click Here - or ask your local Citroën Dealer if they can get you a copy

The operating system/update CD has a part number and can be ordered. It was also included in the packages of new maps (but this was a generic version and some C6 things are not included, but must be handled manually afterwards). I think the updated version is still 8.31.

To get the unit to re-initialize completely you have to short circuit the reset points on the unit I believe

Pleased it worked for you. Does it have 'part number' as it would be easier to get here in the UK rather than try and get from France these days.

Part number 9679242580, price in Norway ca 12 pounds (150 NKr) for the CD.

Try it again, it is the repair process of the HDD that is the key. Before that: several attempts to press the "Dark" button for XX seconds for a restart.

......"several attempts to press the "Dark" button for XX seconds for a restart" were ineffective.....but now everything's back to work without doing anything....

well....actually it's not 100% "normal" yet....there's significant delay when pressing any button (e.g. changing a radio station, switching fron "Nav" to "Audio" to "Trip" mode etc...)

Let's see what's next tomorrow.....

Thanks again
