Having finally pulled the plastic cover off the top of my engine, it's fairly obvious where I have been losing coolant to. The photo shows the bit that is leaking, which appears to just be a de-aeration chamber on one of the coolant lines.

What is this correctly called, and does anyone know if they are easily available and/or repairable, as it appears to be leaking from the join line.

Any guidance welcomed!

This part is a known problem and someone (in France) has produced a better version in metal/not plastic. Search the net.

Many thanks for everyone's replies. I did find the french website with the guy who makes these from stainless steel, and thought it was a great fix. I am, however, not about to spend over £100 on one tiny bit of the cooling system.

The fact that the hose assembly complete is still available (I hadn't found that) is good news... I'm still a little loathed to spend £40 on what should be a few quid, but it's good to know you can get it.

I think I am going to go with my first plan of cutting the unit in half and bonding it back together. Either that or replacing it with a straight-through pipe with a tee for the bleed point. I've had de-aeration pots on various Citroen vehicles split over the years, and have almost always just deleted them and run a pipe straight past with no ill effects.

But if it all goes wrong, I can always buy the £40 one from above.

Cheers all.

The £40 is out of stock now, alternatives are near 98 euro so at that price I would go for the stainless one...
