According to Robert at BL Auto, the C6 radiator commonly fails at the top inlet where it cracks / weeps and although the radiator is still perfectly good otherwise, it is replaced with another one that has the same design flaw . Is there a remedy for this known failure ? Is it possible to buy a new inlet tank: (my radiator shop regularly replaces just the leaking plastic radiator tank) Apparently the inlet is where the hottest motor coolant enters the radiator and the high heat eventually causes the the radiator inlet and top radiator tank to fail and leak : Does the bottom radiator tank experience this problem of cracking also ? Or only the Top Radiator tank? Do Metal radiators experience inlet tank failures? Is there a metal radiator replacement option ? |

Can you give us the part numbers ? The part Citroen calls "inlet tank" is quite cheap and easy to get. There is also a metal replacement for the part with a chamber on it. The original plastic parts fail and should be replaced when the timing belt is changed. In my list "inlet tank" is part 1336y2, outlet tank/Thermostat housing is 1336 y3, "degassing tank"/with the chamber is 1351KV (metal version can be ordered on the net) |

It's where the plastic header joins the metal radiator core, and there is a seal in there that fails IIRC. There is no replacement available as far as I am aware, and it's simpler just to replace the whole radiator, though a bottle of coolant leak sealant poured into the system will provide a temporary fix (did for me for over a thousand miles to and back from France). Be aware though of other issues though around the area as described in this thread: - Click Here - |

Best regards, Frank |
