A few days ago, I tried to open the driver's side rear door whilst the car was still "locked", mirrors folded in etc. To my surprise, the door opened and the alarm went off. How long it's been like that I don't know because I don't recall ever trying to open a door whilst the car was locked. I tried cycling through the locking/unlocking a few times with my ear to the door but there definitely doesn't seem to be that strong "clunk" that can be heard on all other doors. Reading through the forum it looks like the solenoid might be the issue. Given my recent experience with things all of a sudden starting to work again, I thought that I would try spraying it with something appropriate first. The question is, what should I be spraying and where? |

Electrical contact cleaner on the plug in the door jamb first. There's also a connector in the door at the lock mech, but I'd be surprised if that's a problem. I guess a replacement lock mech is needed to test/confirm if it's faulty, or you need to look elsewhere. |
