Hello, Just wondering if anyone has any idea about the number of C6's remaining on the road in Scotland? Thanks

Well, I have two on the road, two I plan on returning to the road this year and two that might end up as spares cars.

In addition to those, I know of another four in regular use and two sorned awaiting repair (is one yours)? There's also some in Aberdeen but I'm not sure if they're in storage or running.

Thanks for the info. My car is still on the road; I know of four others in Glasgow, one in Kilmarnock and one in Perth all on the road. There is a very nice late one regularly parked on Cumberland Street in Edinburgh New Town.

Got mine here in Greenock, I'm assuming it's one of the four 'MGmike' referred to in his post!

Noob C6 owner here. (2009 2.2 Hdi, manual). Picked it up a couple of days ago from the previous owner nr Guildford, Surrey.

It will need a little diagnostic suspension work soon (low speed pitching over some surfaces, some of the time which smooths out above circa 30mph).

I'm guessing all the go-to Citroen specialists are in the Central Belt.

Any recommendations for one that has good knowledge and experience of the C6 suspension?

You could try Old Mill garage in Aberdeen, Nick is Citroen mad and owns a number of C6's.

Failing that, I have been known to dabble with the odd C6 or three

There will be others but as I don't use them, I can't provide a recommendation.

Hi All,

I am a newb based in Glasgow who is seriously thinking of buying a C6. It's a 2.2 Exclusive being sold by John from Blantyre. (Hi John if you are reading this).

I love these cars, but am terrified that I might buying a money pit. I would love if someone here could help me out - potentially by doing a bit of an inspection on the car to make sure it is sound. What do you think folks?

The car is located at, and has been looked after for the last few years by, Tuga Garage - Click Here - in Maryhill. I understand they are Citroen specialists.

Also, although I am new to C6s I have had a lot of Citroens over the years, and I took them all to Graham Harper's Garage in Finnieston. Does anyone know if the garage is still operating (I know Graham died quite a few years ago)?

All C6's are money pits but the 2.2 may be a money hole rather that a pit

I'm happy to take a look but it's an hour each way for me and an appropriate number of beer tokens would be required. Private Message me if you what to discuss further.

When I bought my C6 in 2019 they were still open but said that they wouldn't look at the C6 because of the diagnostics. It's annoying because they used to look after a Xantia I had many years ago and I always found them to be excellent and Graeme was always very friendly and knowledgeable. Whatever you do, I strongly advise you to steer well clear of CAM Autos in Rutherglen! I'm still clearing up the mess they made of my car!

Hi everyone,

I thought I would chime in to say, add another C6 residing north of the border to the list.

It's a 58 plate 2.7, technically a Linage but with upgrades. Based a little south of Glasgow.

It's a well-known example, being the C6 featured in the JayEmm On Cars Youtube review, and has been owned by C6Dave and others on here in the past.

Curently needs a new driver's side front window (not my doing I hasten to add).

Ronnie was one of Graham's mechanics and he took over the business. It's now renamed The Hidden Lane Garage I think. No idea if Ronnie has ever worked on a C6 or not. He was definitely still there about a year ago.

Thanks team. Going for a first look at the car today. This may be nuts, but there is CX Turbo for sale in Orkney, and I wonder if it might be a better choice. Why? Three reasons: (i) ULEZ exempt (unlike the 2.2 C6); (ii) simpler technlogy, so less to go wrong; and (iii) they made a lot of CXs over the years, so spares should be easier to get (I understand a lot of c6 parts are unobtanium).

What do you think? I am being nuts here?

So did you go and look at the C6 or are you considering the CX Turbo?

Most CXs are rust buckets - it is rare to find rust-free examples. The C6 doesn't have this problem.
There was the CX Turbo 1 - I think with 95 hp - which was actually OK engine-wise.
The more powerful Turbo 2 - 120 hp - all died early. Much earlier than the V6 diesel of the C6.
The 2.2 diesel C6 is far more stable - the turbo is very powerful but not entirely trouble-free.
The V6 diesel 2.7 is better suited to this car and many last over 300,000 kilometres if you drive them properly.
And for both models (CX//C6) you either need a suitable workshop or you can do it yourself.
Greetings Wolfgang
