Ranger12 wrote ... As mine is a manual, it is I that decides how long the gear changes are, and when, and I see only two spheres at the rear in the centre, so I think you are referring to the automatic gearbox. Well now I am very confused as looking in the 2007 owners handbook - Click Here - (page 16, 68 & 101) 'Sport' mode is only associated with the auto gearbox so how you had a working 'sport button' or why the car even had a functioning one is a mystery. |

Hi C6 Dave, looking at the 2007 owners handbook, I see nothing on those listed pages that refers to the Sport Mode only being for the Autobox. Considering all C6's have Oleopneumatic, 4 position suspensions, Sport Mode also switches between soft and firm mode on the suspension, on the Manual, it is impossible for Sport Mode to manage gear changes, that is the job of the driver. It isn't at all a mystery, as ALL C6's have Sport Mode buttons (that should work), it is just the autos/semi-autos that have Sport Mode connected to gear changes, and I can assure you that my Sport Mode button worked, put up the symbol on the dash when working, and noticably altered the firmness of the suspension. Also, even though I have the 2007 Owners Manual, it does not cover the Manual box, only Autos and Semi-Autos, and my owners Manual came with my 2007 2.7 V6 HDI Automatic Exclusive, there was none with my 2.2 HDI Manual. The manual you have linked to will not allow me to download it (even though I have done so previously) even whilst logged in. I tried to download it to see if the linked version is different to mine, but it seems to be exactly the same 2007 manual I already downloaded (the file name is the same). Page 16 of my 2007 Owners Manual (Autobox) shows the Sport Mode Icon at position 'I', page 69 of my manual shows Details about the different Autobox modes (Sport, Snow, Normal), and page 101 shows Ground Clearance Adjustment, but the only option on this page that my car doesn't have and your does, is the lowering of the suspension at speed, that is part of the AMVAR behaviour (also linked to the moving deflector) not the simpler ECOTECH. Both systems use Hydractive III. I suspect that the Owner Manual for the Manual boxed 2.2 is a slightly different manual, which would more accurately fit my car, but the previous owner had lost the entire car pack. I made a pack up from my 2.7 Auto, as it's manual still covers most of my 2.2. Sport Mode is part of all C6's. Hopefully that helps to clear up your confusion. I will be checking out my fuses and the Sport Mode button itself, as it could just be the button inners have worn out, and so won't activate when pressed. |

Well blow me over with a feather chaps - I took out the Sport Mode switch, carefully dismantled it, & there was quite a bit of fine dry brown dust inside, cleaned it, pinged off the tiny metal contact for the Sport Mode button contact area, rubbed my toothbrush over it (though looking very clean, I noticed a tiny tiny dark spot right in the centre of the boardside contact) put it all back together, then for good measure, pulled all my fuses one at a time (many looked quite dull), did the same with the toothbrush to them as I did with the switch (removes light oxidation), then when that was done, I pensiveley sat in the drivers seat, turned on the ignition, started the car, and then gingerly pressed the Sport Mode Button .... and nearly jumped out of my skin when the Icon appeared on the dash! I switched it a few times, and it came on and off as expected. I think what happened is that when my front hieight corrector went on the motorway, I wasn't well and in a bad mood (I was returning from 4 days in Dartmoor with a friend, his dog, our camping gear, with both of us suffering from Cryptosporidium infestation (contaminated Water), and as I'd had to travel first from Dartmoor to Swindon by bus and train first, then collect my car, then drive to Cheltenham (where I went into limp home mode after DPF warnings), then the following morning, fix the dpf issue, then drive to Dartmoor again, then Swindon, then Cheltenham again. So the new height corrector sorted the issue straight away, but because I had been mashing the Sport Mode button in a mood and feeling quite sick, I obviously messed that up myself without realising, or it was just a big coincidence that the button failed at the same time the front height corrector did ... I'll put my hand up to this one, I should have just accepted Sport Mode wasn't working when the main issue happened, and gently tested the button, not keep stabbing and stabbing it all the way home, hoping it would respond somehow. Thank you all for your help and input, This issue is now solved. |
