Hiya. Seems like I ended up buying a C6 this weekend. A car I have always admired but never owned.

I'm a serial car hoarder so when I popped in to visit a good friend of mine who has a garage/car sales pitch he (knowing anything unusual is my kryptonite) led me over to a corner where sat, with faded headlights and a broken driver's window was a C6.

In a dark grey colour, it's a 2007, 2.7 HDI Lignage with black half leather interior.

So a tentative enquiry about price put it within range and a deal struck. He did me a good deal just to move it on really, he had taken it in on a trade deal and didn't stand him very much, so worth taking a chance on.

Found a window on a well known auction site, that is on its way. My mate is going to MOT tomorrow and all being well should be with me tomorrow night.

It looks to have been looked after by main dealer all its life, and has some eye watering bills from not many miles ago, including gearbox, turbos, most of the hydraulics, many frip joints, (Presumably a weak spot) and indeed all the common items. So it looks to have been cherished, however looks to have been sold on from that owner in 2018 and done nothing since, as borne out by a lack of MOT's from 2018 to 2023.

I've been a mechanic for 36 years, 22 of them on Rolls Royce so hydro pneumatic suspension is no stranger. Once I've got it home and assessed it, a plan of action will be formed to get it up to scratch, starting off with a damned good service and belts.

Hopefully all the main issues have been addressed, but your correct, Frip joints are a common issue.

You will be able to find all the answers to any queries you have on site

and I hope it works out for you. I'm not sure a main dealer service history is worth the amount paid by previous owners

Best advice I can give is to change the oil very regularly and at least every 10k miles.

FRIP joints a common problem, but the problem with water intrusion through vertical bearing is solved, I think. Insist on genuine SKF next time.... I changed mine at 70 000 km and never since, now at 256 000.

Unsurprisingly, my newest addition to the fleet is on the site's register from way back in 2012. YP07PZK. So I'm pleased to confirm it is still alive and kicking despite having fell off the earth for 5 years, although it seems to have migrated a good way north.

Great site with a huge amount of info.
