Today, a friend of mine bought a C6 with nearly 300,000 miles on it. 2.7HDi Exclusive, one owner from new, full service history. I had a quick drive, then friend drove it 60 miles home. Apart from a few minor items requiring attention, it drives extremely well, engine/gearbox were especially smooth, original EGR valves in place, nothing wrong that a good service won't sort out, along with a few worn parts, like an engine mount, tyres and suspension bushes. Bodywork is very straight and tidy, it's in doom grey (Storm grey) with cream interior. I believe it's been used for plenty of long motorway drives, clearly easy on the car. I've driven cars in much worse condition at 50,000 miles. For a laugh I calculated the cost of fuel to drive 300,000 miles, at today's prices, approx £50,000. Anyone know of a higher mileage car. Here's to happy C6 motoring. |

Just wondering how you noticed the engine mounts were suspect? Was there to much vibration coming from the steering wheel at idle? Which side? Thats Amazing mileage, but just goes to show what good basic maintenance and plenty of money can sort. Well done to the owner.

There was a groaning noise when accelerating hard, as if the engine was rocking/moving further than it should and engine noise/vibration was being transferred to the body and then into the cabin.

Right, that's interesting, I'm assuming then it's front or rear mount worn out? Or torque reaction rod I think they refer to them. |

Brings a new meaning to the term 'high mileage'. I'm on a mere 184,000 miles but then my car did only 5,000 miles before 2009. Last service did show a split engine mount 'driveshaft needs removing to replace'. Noticeable when on left hand bends at speed. |

PS from my fuel records (but taking Shaun's 'todays fuel price' methodology) I calculate a touch under £36,000 to do 300,000 miles in my 2.2 manual.

I did 100 miles in this car earlier this week. It's now just over 298,000 now. 800 miles since buying. Overall fuel consumption on the trip computer for 6000 miles was 38.2mpg. A few other items requiring attention have become apparent and/or fixed; Both front bottom ball joints (FRIP) Rear suspension bushes have wear in them Suspension spheres may be down on pressure, front end feels a bit bouncy, but not too bad. Engine mount still needs replacing Front brake pads have been replaced I've cleaned the leather properly, as I hate grubby cream! |

Hi Hattershaun, I'd love to see a few photos of the overall condition of the leather. At nearly 300,000 and still going, that's very impressive. I'm looking into changing the engine mounts as well. The rear engine mount is very difficult to reach and assess. Would the active mounts throw up any lexia codes I'm wondering. They work with the engine ECU I believe. |

Interior on the day the car was bought. See how grubby the driver's seat was. Now lovely and clean, but no photos at the moment. Carpet mat responded well to a scrub. However, minor disaster today, electronic speedo/ digital dash unit failed in a cloud of smoke, oops! |

I don't think the pictures you posted made It through to the website yet. I still have the same problem. I need to double check the images aren't larger than 2mb. Which they nearly all are. Thanks again for feedback. |

I'm on 301,000 miles. Is the car mentioned above still running?

The engine had become difficult to start from cold, with some unwanted rattling/rough running & chugging. Top end of the engine was stripped & two rockers were broken on different cylinders; making it 3 valves per cylinder instead of 4! It donated many parts to keep other C6 going, though. There’s a 2.7 C6 for sale currently, on Gumtree, with 353,000 miles. Registration L44DGA. |
