I have also problem with o-ring 198171. I can't order genuine one in Croatia since the Citroen dealer said that it is not available any more. Does somebody know where to order new one from PSA, or what is the part number for rover?
Many thanks for any info.

Dave, that's the one for the housing to the block. I think he's looking for this one - Click Here -

nope not that one... Let me recheck and update.

It appears it's no longer available separately. It comes as part of the filter/cooler assembly!

A standard o-ring of the correct dimensions will need to be sourced.

Sourcing an o-ring shouldn't be too difficult but, have you any idea of the actual dimensions Mike?

Sorry Dave, I intended to measure one today but forgot
Will try again next week.

Hi Dave, that is not what I need. I need the o-ring that comes into that from bottom. Not showed in that picture. Look at the attached document, Engine oil sump filter probe, pos. #12

Hi Mike, I think that this could be the one. Can you double check please? Parts assembly for Rover could help to see if it sits in exact position as in the document that I've uploaded.

Since there were no additional suggestions in this thread, I have ordered the whole engine oil-water distirib chamb, part number #10, code 1103 N4. The original part was not available, so I have ordered aftermarket one that comes with bracket gasket 1104 41, part number # 11 on engine oil sump filter probe assembly.

By the way, the O-ring dimensions for part #12, code 1981 71 are:
inner diameter: Ø20 mm
outer diameter: Ø27 mm
thickness:Ø3,4 mm

As you can see the o-ring is not listed.

Thanks for posting the dimensions.

Thanks. I guess this should be 3.5mm thick.
Where did you get the measurement from, did you measure the old one or measure where it locates?

The reason for asking, this is an odd size (as expected for engine designers!). The nearest standard size readily available is 20/26/3 or 20/28/4

I'm presuming a 20/28/4 would work but may be a tight fit.

This is the old o-ring 198171 taken from my C6, the slide rule shows for inner diameter something around 21,4 mm (can't be 100% sure because the o-ring is twisted and worn) and the cross section is squared.

Than at the local automotive shop that sells aftermarket parts, I saw that there is upper coolant part that is not separately listed, shown at the attached picture. There are three o-rings within the box, so I've measured o-ring code 1981 71, and also the other two. I'm not sure where those two additional rings go, suppose beneath the radiator, but not sure. Look at the attached photos. I have also printout of that part that is obviously produced in Poland, the part number can be seen on the box in PDF file.

Actual measurements that I have provided for o-ring code 1981 71 come from those parts that I had in my hands.

Thanks.

I didn't know anyone supplied the cooler separately from the complete filter housing! Wouldn't it be great if they supplied only a seal kit rather than coolers with seals!
