Does anybody know what the difference is between selecting fast route and time/distance route is? Is time/distance only for multiple destinations?

Thanks.

Fastest route looks at the speed limits on a route and picks roads with the highest limits but not necessarily the shortest mileage

Thanks, Dave, but what does time/distance do? So far, I have always used fastest route, but I'm just curious what time/distance does.

time/distance algorithm tries to balance the distance travelled and time taken.

What navidrive doesn't account for is things like time at junctions, regular traffic issues (e.g. school run/rush hour/bottle necks), and that goes for both the Fastest Route and time/distance algorithms. The problem is that Shortest Route takes it quite literally as the shortest distance between points A and B. None of the algorithms particularly can deal with a fast route via back roads.

I think the Navidrive AI is a little dim-witted so it can't really figure out the real ideal route however you try to program it. So best set it to time/distance and use it as a rough guide, especially at peak times.

Thanks for that info. I was just curious as to what it does, as my Tom Tom doesn't have such a choice. I think that I'll stick to fast route, as it seems to work well and will always offer to re-route me via TMC if there are problems ahead.
