Am I seeing things, or is that a VW Audi part that Citroen is using? If so, there must be loads of highly reliable German cars (?) having similar problems. When searched, the part nos. actually come up as a Throttle Position Sensor for various VWs / Audis. Would the part therefore be available and cheaper for those cars, as they make far more cars? Mine seem to work fine (that does it!!), so long as I occasionally squirt a little Ferrosol in through that little aperture when closed. Ferrosol was recommended by someone on here specifically for this purpose and it is great stuff, with multiple uses. It's much better than WD40 as a penetrating fluid, for example.

While we are on the topic of mirrors... Does someone know if the "facelift" mirrors with the more rectangular shape can be installed in place of the original oval mirrors on a pre-2009 C6?

Yes, the later mirrors can be installed on an earlier car; mounting points are identical and electrical connectors are the same. I tried it once.

Sounds interesting.

And the folding/unfolding and reverse parking tilting worked without problems?

Yes, all the functions worked correctly.

Hello, may I know how did you manage to open the folding mechanism case? After releasing that one latch, there is still something that holds the cover in place.

When I opened mine there appeared to be 2 fixings close to where the wiring enters the top surface of the case which I replaced with small self tappers on reassembly. (That's if my memory is correct.) The lid then could be lifted and rotated about the wiring aperture to reveal the motor.

I did adjust the position of the contacts on the motor so as to contact an unworn part of the pads on the small circuit board.

It may be bonded so make sure it's warm and carefully apply 'GENTLE' heat where you can

Heating was a very good advice actually. Thank you very much. I used a gas lighter to make the heads of those plastic rivets soft. I hope I can make them flat after reinstalling the cover afterwards, so everything is more less in the original state.

Regarding the mechanism itself - it seems undamaged and clean. Will see if cleaning the old and applying some fresh grease will help.

I’ll add some pictures here, as there’s no need to create another thread.

This is the right-side mirror. The issue is that it doesn’t retract back. The problem is a broken white internal gear, which is only visible after removing the top clip.

I bought a generic replacement unit: - Click Here -

After unpinning the wires, the motor can be slid out:

The power connection matches this type of wiring:

I wouldn’t recommend trying to replace only the white gear, as the spring is quite strong. The replacement unit has more durable internal gears, with one of them made of metal.

Thanks for adding the feedback and pictures. It will help others with the same issue.
